Grand Targhee Resort is hiring a Returning Ski and Snowboard Instructor (Full & Part-Time, Seasonal) - Winter 26/27 in Alta, WY. This is a full-time position.
SUMMARY Teach lessons in the Grand Targhee Ski & Snowboard School program and act as a Snowsports ambassador with guests around the resort. Instructors are responsible for providing safe, fun, and professional lessons to guests of all ages and ability levels, creating an exceptional learning experience while promoting a lifelong love of Snowsports. A key part of every employee's job is to serve as a Targhee ambassador, engaging the guest at every opportunity. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Teach skiing or snowboarding lessons in group or private settings to children, teens, and adults. Provide clear demonstrations and personalized feedback to help guests progress in their skills. Ensure a safe learning environment by following and enforcing all resort safety policies. Deliver excellent guest service, patience, and enthusiasm while fostering a positive atmosphere. Assist guests with equipment, lift loading/unloading, and navigating resort facilities. Represent the resort professionally on and off the slopes. Participate in staff training and ongoing professional development. Some job sharing may be required. RESPONSIBILITIES TO SAFETY Protect the safety of self, workers, and Grand Targhee Resort guests. Report any potentially harmful equipment or situations to the immediate supervisor without delay. Report safety-related accidents and incidents at once to immediate supervisor. Follow all company and department safety policies and procedures as outlined in the Resort's Occupational Safety & Health Compliance Manual and department-specific procedures or manuals. Operate equipment safely so that it will not lead to injury to yourself or others. Drive in accordance with the law and Grand Targhee Resort policies. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This job has no supervisory responsibilities. WORK SCHEDULE Due to the nature of the recreation industry, we are in operation seven days a week. This includes weekends and holidays and there is no guarantee of hours. Flexible working hours may be required based on business levels. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High school diploma or equivalent preferred. One season of Ski or Snowboard Instruction as part of a ski school or snowsports program required. QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Must have the ability to ski/snowboard at the intermediate level. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS PSIA-AASI Certifications and Accreditations or, equivalent ISIA recognized organization certification, will provide higher base wage rates. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Excellent verbal communication skills. REASONING ABILITY Ability to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or verbal instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Ski or snowboard confidently for multiple hours per day at an intermediate level. Must be able to provide physical assistance to students during instruction, including helping them stand, regain balance, or get up after falling on slopes of varying difficulty. Must be able to perform job duties outdoors in cold, windy, and snowy conditions for extended periods of time without access to shelter, while remaining physically active. Must be able to demonstrate ski or snowboard techniques dynamically and repeatedly at various speeds and difficulty levels as needed during lessons.
