Grand Targhee Resort is hiring a Heavy Equipment Snow Removal Supervisor (Full-Time, Seasonal) - Winter 26/27 in Alta, WY. This is a full-time position.
SUMMARY Supervises, coordinates, and performs snow removal by directing available crew and assisting in work. A key part of every employee's job is to serve as a Targhee ambassador, engaging the guest at every opportunity. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Hires, motivates, evaluates, and directs staff to ensure adequate guidance and resources to accomplish established goals and objectives. Ensures that all employees receive the training, support, guidance, feedback and resources necessary.Ensures all parking lots and employee parking areas are cleared of snow by a pre-determined time every morning.Monitors weather and coordinates any necessary late day plowing operations.Ensures all snow removal equipment is adequately maintained and in good working order.Directs the establishment of departmental standards, guidelines, and objectives.Maintains other administrative processes such as time center and staffing to ensure proper planning, efficient operation of departments, and successful achievement of resort goals.Monitors and evaluates operational projects to ensure the successful execution of activities and to improve the effectiveness of the areas of responsibility.Maintains and enhances a guest-focused culture in all areas of responsibility.Maintains schedules in compliance with regulations and authorities having jurisdiction; manages responsibilities in compliance with resort safety policies.Remains current on legal issues and technological advances which impact the industry; maintains awareness of scope and progress of competition.Maintains effective communication skills with all levels of employees, guests, and all other outside contacts.Delegates responsibility, motivates and leads direct reports to achieve goals and objectives. RESPONSIBILITIES TO SAFETY: Protect the safety of self, workers, and Grand Targhee Resort guests.Report any potentially harmful equipment or situations to the immediate supervisor without delay.Report safety-related accidents and incidents at once to immediate supervisor.Follow all company and department safety policies and procedures as outlined in the Resorts Occupational Safety & Health Compliance Manual and department-specific procedures or manuals.Operate equipment safely so that it will not lead to injury to yourself or others.Drive in accordance with the law and Grand Targhee Resort policies. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Directly supervises up to 6 employees in the Snow Removal Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. WORK SCHEDULE Due to the nature of the recreation industry, we are in operation seven days a week. This includes weekends and holidays and there is no guarantee of hours. Flexible working hours may be required based on the business levels. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High school Diploma preferred. Three years of heavy equipment operation or supervision required. QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Excellent verbal communication skills. REASONING ABILITY Ability to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or verbal instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Heavy equipment, OSHA or other safety related certifications preferred.
