The Loan Program Administrator supports the credit union by overseeing the operational performance, administration, and documentation of assigned lending programs. This role serves as a subject matter expert and works collaboratively with lending leadership and key stakeholders to ensure programs operate effectively, comply with established standards, and support an exceptional member experience. The Loan Program Administrator develops and maintains procedures, monitors risk exposure and performance trends, and provides guidance to ensure program accuracy, consistency, and compliance. Additionally, this position exercises Level II underwriting authority and contributes to portfolio oversight and secondary market activities.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversees the daily operations of assigned lending programs to ensure smooth functionality, operational consistency, and adherence to established service level agreements. This includes managing and documenting program performance while partnering closely with the Loan Program Manager to maintain accurate reporting, program controls, and workflow standards. The role supports system updates, software releases, enhancements, and third party integrations related to assigned programs.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert for assigned lending programs and works collaboratively with Lending leadership and key stakeholders. This includes facilitating regular meetings to review program performance, present reporting, address concerns, and identify opportunities for improvement. The administrator also develops, updates, and maintains program procedures, workflows, and administrative documentation to ensure clarity, compliance, and alignment with organizational expectations.
  • Monitors program-specific credit exposure and performance trends while partnering with lending leadership to identify emerging risks and recommend mitigation strategies. The role also communicates program updates, procedural changes, and performance trends to stakeholders to ensure alignment with organizational goals, risk considerations, and member experience expectations.
  • Exercises Level II underwriting authority, including decision making responsibilities for home equity, higher limit secured, and unsecured lending. This authority includes reviewing and decisioning complex or escalated loan requests across multiple channels. The role requires sound judgment and discretion to balance member needs with the credit union’s risk appetite, underwriting standards, and regulatory requirements while ensuring consistent, well supported credit decisions.
  • Performs portfolio review on participation loan purchases, assessing the associated risks and providing informed recommendations to lending leadership. Assists in preparing loan pools for sale, ensuring that all documentation, data, and loan characteristics meet accuracy, compliance, and investor and internal requirements.
  • Must comply with all company policies and procedures, applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.

Knowledge and Skills

Experience

Five to eight years of similar or related experience, including system and/or program administration, end-to-end underwriting and monitoring internal control experience. Medium to advanced knowledge of the loan origination system. Underwriter II authority level.

Education/Certifications/Licenses

A high school degree or equivalent.

Interpersonal Skills

A significant level of trust, credibility and diplomacy is required. In-depth dialogue, conversations and explanations with customers, direct and indirect reports and outside vendors can be of a sensitive and/or highly confidential nature. Communications may involve motivating, influencing, educating and/or advising others on matters of significance. Typically includes subject matter experts as well as first level to middle managers.

FULL TIME POSITION

Starting Range: $26.54 - $29.73

Full Range: $25.58 - $38.37

Physical Requirements

Is able to bend, sit, and stand in order to perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 10 lbs. Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in an emergency situation. Must be able to operate routine office equipment including computer terminals and keyboards, telephones, copiers, facsimiles, and calculators. Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to work extended hours or travel off site whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance.

Working Conditions

Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with minimal noise.

Mental and/or Emotional Requirements

Must be able to perform job functions independently or with limited supervision and work effectively either on own or as part of a team. Must be able to read and carry out various written instructions and follow oral instructions. Must be able to complete basic mathematical calculations, spell accurately, and understand computer basics. Must be able to speak clearly and deliver information in a logical and understandable sequence. Must be capable of dealing calmly and professionally with numerous different personalities from diverse cultures at various levels within and outside of the organization and demonstrate highest levels of customer service and discretion when dealing with the public. Must be able to perform responsibilities with composure under the stress of deadlines / requirements for extreme accuracy and quality and/or fast pace. Must be able to effectively handle multiple, simultaneous, and changing priorities. Must be capable of exercising highest level of discretion on both internal and external confidential matters.
