Work Schedule:

This is a full-time position working Monday through Friday between the hours of 8: 00 am and 5: 00 pm. Shifts will be split between the East Park Medical Center and the Johnson Creek Carbone Cancer Center or other community-based UW Health outreach clinics plus one week per month at Unity Point Health-Meriter Hospital for inpatient consults. Hours can vary based on the operational needs of the department.

As an Advanced Practice Provider, you'll play an integral role in our ambulatory and inpatient care teams by providing high-quality, cost-effective care to patients.

We are seeking a Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant - General Hematology Oncology to:
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary health team to provide comprehensive care to cancer patients in active treatment as well as patients with benign hematologic conditions in a primarily outpatient setting.
  • Provide new and follow up appointments at both East Park Medical Center and Johnson Creek Cancer Clinic locations and other UW Health regional/outreach cancer clinics.
  • Provide inpatient coverage one week per month for hematology/oncology patients at Unity Point Health-Meriter Hospital by conducting history and physical examination (H& P) prior to admissions from clinic, and rounding on patients in consultative role.
  • Perform routine clinical procedures independently as outlined in practice agreements/scope of practice including, but not limited to, the following: bone marrow biopsies, lumbar puncture with intrathecal chemotherapy.

Education:
If Nurse Practitioner: Master's or Doctorate's degree from accredited Nursing Program.
If Physician Assistant: Bachelor's or Master's degree from accredited PA Program.

Work Experience:

Minimum - 1-3 years caring for hematology/medical oncology patients.

Preferred - Experience with acute and ambulatory cancer patient care.

Licenses and Certifications:
Minimum - State of Wisconsin NP or PA licensure
If Nurse Practitioner*:
  • Active RN and APRN certifications and licenses, including prescriptive authority, in state(s) of practice AND
  • Active board certification as a NP in area of clinical practice. These may include the following: Adult; Adult/Gerontology Primary Care, Adult/Gerontology Acute Care; Family.

If Physician Assistant*:
  • Active PA license, including prescriptive authority, in state(s) of practice AND
  • Active PA board certification

All Nurse Practitioner and Physician Assistant applicants must have*: Active DEA license or ability to apply for such license prior to or upon hire
