We're seeking:
  • Enthusiastic learners who are eager to develop and apply pharmacy knowledge with a hands-on approach to learning.
  • Individuals with strong critical thinking, organization, and time management skills who thrive in a fast-paced work environment.
  • A general comfort level with mathematics; isn't required; you will be learning how to calculate drug dosages.
  • Previous experience in customer service or healthcare is wonderful, but not required.


Perks of the program:
  • Get paid a competitive wage of $18.25 per hour and receive benefits while you complete our four-month ASHP accredited technician training program.
  • Gain experience working in Inpatient or Ambulatory Pharmacies at UW Health.
  • Upon successful completion of the program, employed trainees will move into a permanent role within UW Health. (see link below for more information).

What's required:
  • Achieve an overall course score of at least 80% for all didactic and simulation material.
  • Achieve at least 80% on the pharmacy calculations and pharmacology sections.
  • Successfully complete a media fill test and achieve 80% on the corresponding course material.
  • Successfully complete all designated experiential competencies.
  • Sign an Employee Agreement committing to work for UW Health Pharmacy for at least 24 months or reimburse the cost of the program. The program costs $3, 400 (amount is pro-rated).


When will you know? Our recruitment timeline is below:
  • Friday, May 24 th: Applications due
  • Friday, May 31 st: Last Day for 1 st round (HR) interviews
  • Weeks of June 3 rd & 10 th: In-Person interviews and references completed
  • Week of June 17 th: Official notification of acceptance
  • Monday, July 15 th: Class begins


Work Schedule:

100% FTE, day shift. This 18 week in-person program is Monday - Friday 7: 00AM - 3: 30PM.

Education:

Minimum -High School Diploma or equivalent and formal acceptance into the UW Health Pharmacy Technician Apprentice Program.

These employees perform various services and duties, including pharmacy administration, Pharmacy Technician Training Program, pharmacy primary care services, medication prior authorization, sterile and non-sterile compounding, specialty/mail service program and call center.
