  • $16.03 to $20.04 Per Hour | Depending on Experience


Teacher Aide/Food Pantry Assistant Job Responsibilities:

Teacher Aide (Drop-in Center)

1. Assist in maintaining a safe play environment for children in the drop-off center and always ensure appropriate supervision of the children.
2. Collect required information from parents regarding the children in the center.
3. Provide children with a variety of age appropriate, multicultural activities, toys, and books, and supervise their use of these supplies.
4. Provide children with healthy snacks and beverages.
5. Engage the children in activities that promote social, cognitive, and emotional growth.
6. Communicate with parents as needed and appropriate.
7. Complete and submit necessary reports such as incident reports within 24 hours of any occurrence.
8. Report suspected Child Abuse & Neglect incidents in accordance with WI State Statutes and UMOS Policy & Procedure.
9. Assist with daily attendance reports and other weekly or monthly reports as needed.
10. Ensure confidentiality of parents and children.
11. Maintain all safety and security standards and procedures.

Pantry Assistant

12. Weigh all donations, sort them and put them at their designated areas.
13. Prepare food baskets according to family size guidelines.
14. Complete client intakes to distribute food and non-food items.
15. Provide information and referral to community resources.
16. Maintain and organize inventory, keep storage area stocked and clean.
17. Attend meetings, conferences, workshops and perform special projects and other related duties as assigned.
18. Other duties as assigned.

Teacher Aide/Food Pantry Assistant Job Qualifications:

1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Completed training in Early Childhood Education 1, First Aid with Choking, Adult & Pediatric CPR/AED, SIDS.
3. One year of childcare experience required.
4. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
5. A desire to work with children, and sensitivity to the needs of W-2 children and families.
6. Have access to reliable transportation.
7. Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred.
8. Ability to work with confidential information and documentation.
9. Must possess awareness, knowledge, and sensitivity to socioeconomic and culturally diverse backgrounds of the target population served.
10. Ability to work diplomatically with difficult people and diffuse angry customers quickly and effectively.

Work Environment, Physical, and Sensory Demands:

1. Employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, bend, kneel and squat.
2. Frequently required to lift and /or move up to 40 pounds, regularly required to lift over
40 pounds with the assistance of another employee.
3. Frequently exposed to fluctuating temperatures generally encountered in a controlled
temperature environment and outside setting.
4. Noise level in this work is usually semi-moderate.

Tools & Equipment Used:

1. iPad, iPhone, laptop computers, projectors, copy/scanner machine, computer.
2. Be able to scan documents and encrypt documents as necessary.
3. Use first aid equipment, fire extinguisher.
Usage varies by position.

Additional Eligibility Requirements:

Employment with UMOS is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background
