As the Color & Print Specialist, you are responsible for executing Lands’ End color, print, and pattern processes to ensure accuracy, consistency, and continuity across all business categories. This includes managing color development and production workflows, approving color and print (color & registration/layout) submissions, and maintaining the Lands’ End design vision while meeting technical and business requirements. You will serve as the technical liaison between design teams and suppliers, driving successful execution of color and print standards within calendar timelines.

Color & Print Approvals

  • Evaluate (visually and instrumentally) color submissions, including lab dips, yarn dyes, and bulk dye lots, as well as print/pattern executions such as strike-offs, handlooms, and knit-downs, per Lands’ End SOP.
  • Provide corrective comments and technical recommendations to mills/vendors to improve accuracy and quality.
  • Communicate approval/rejection status and comments using Natific ASAP and other business systems.

Development & Standards

  • Create and maintain seasonal color palettes in Lands’ End systems (CICS, IPLM), converting colors into engineered standards and design tools.
  • Deliver color tools and standards to design teams per calendar milestones.
  • Maintain inventory and database of color tools, standards, and vendor profiles.

Process Management

  • Drive Must Match Programs (MMP) and Best Can Do (BCD) reviews to ensure color continuity and facilitate business decisions.
  • Review color and print execution issues with cross-functional partners (CAD, Design, Sourcing) to prevent production challenges.
  • Understand cost implications of print methods and techniques to meet product and pricing goals

    Education & Collaboration

    • Educate mills/vendors and cross-functional teams on Lands’ End Color and Print SOPs to improve efficiency and quality.
    • Share industry knowledge of dyeing, printing, inks, and techniques with internal teams.

    Reporting & Metrics

    • Generate charts and reports (e.g., Global CAD Tracking Chart, color metrics, and KPIs) to monitor workload and supplier performance.

    Skills

    • 0–2 years of relevant professional experience (internships, co-ops, or academic projects related to the role are acceptable).
    • 1+ years related experience in print & pattern approval process, or sound technical understanding of textile printing expertise a plus.
    • Strong understanding of dyeing, printing, and textile product development processes (weaves, knits, washes, yarns).
    • Proficiency in color management software and spectrophotometer; familiarity with Natific ASAP and Centric PLM a plus.
    • Superior color vision (Farnsworth-Munsell 100 Hue Test).
    • Process- and solution-oriented with excellent communication, organizational, and collaboration skills.
    • Ability to manage workflow independently and meet calendar deadlines.
    • Computer proficiency.
