This is a hybrid role with three weeks per month onsite (Mon. – Thurs.). The fourth week is fully remote.
As a Merchandise Manager, you will oversee your category through the product development process, blending a strong product point of view with disciplined business judgment. Responsibilities include financial planning, including demand, margin, ad ratio, and GMROI, while driving top and bottom-line results. With deep knowledge of the Lands’ End customer and brand, you’ll translate competitive and marketplace trends into brand‑right product with a confident eye.
Partnering with Senior/DMM leadership, you’ll help set category strategy, identify key items, and bring the business plan to life. You’ll collaborate closely with Design, Creative, Sourcing, Technical Design, and Inventory teams to deliver cohesive assortments that balance style, quality, fit, and customer experience.
- Partner with Senior/DMM leadership to support the category’s strategic plan and vision, identifying risks and sharing insights with channel and merchandising teams while maintaining attention to both detail and overall business objectives.
- Deliver financial targets through clear written and verbal communication.
- Develop and quantify strategies that align with divisional priorities and brand goals.
- Support business growth through the evolution of key items and the development of new products, identifying white‑space opportunities that inform future assortments and product improvements.
- Maintain consistent communication and leadership with key cross‑functional partners.
- Coach and develop direct reports and the broader merchandising team through ongoing feedback and guidance.
- Monitor marketplace and competitive trends and adapt them appropriately for the category assortment and Lands’ End customer.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional team, including Design, Planning, Product Development/Sourcing, Creative, and Marketing to execute action plans that support strategic and financial objectives.
- Manage multiple projects from concept through execution, balancing priorities, timelines, and seasonal calendars.
- Make informed decisions using data and insights from category research and cross‑functional partners.
What We're Looking for
- 5–7 years of merchandising experience in a fast‑paced retail environment, supporting assortment planning, product strategy, and in‑season performance.
- Demonstrated merchandising expertise, including trend analysis, identifying growth opportunities, and leveraging competitive insights to drive results.
- Strong financial and analytical acumen, with the ability to interpret sales data, margin, inventory, and performance metrics to inform decisions.
- Omnichannel merchandising experience, with working knowledge of print, digital, and retail channel functionality and integration, a plus.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present ideas clearly to both small and large audiences.
- Proactive and solution‑oriented mindset, with a focus on innovation, customer experience, and brand alignment.
- Proven ability to influence and build alignment across cross‑functional partners.
- Collaborative team player, able to work effectively with design, planning, marketing, and sourcing.
- Strong negotiation, organizational, and analytical skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
