Hillview Health Care Center of La Crosse County is seeking a dependable, service‑oriented Office Assistant to support our Hillview Health Care Center campus. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys helping others, thrives in a people‑focused environment, and can balance clerical tasks with compassionate customer service.

You will be the first point of contact for residents, families, visitors, and staff—playing a key role in maintaining a welcoming, safe, and person‑centered environment.

What You’ll Do

  • Greet, assist, and direct residents, visitors, and callers with professionalism and warmth

  • Monitor the entrance to support resident safety and redirect wandering residents as needed

  • Answer and transfer incoming phone calls

  • Perform light clerical tasks: alphabetizing, sorting, typing, operating a copier, and basic calculator use

  • Receive payments, make change, and balance a cash drawer

  • Maintain office supply inventory and process related invoices

  • Take appropriate action during emergencies (medical, fire, or safety threats)

  • Protect resident rights and confidentiality; report suspected abuse

  • Support person‑centered care and uphold a respectful, inclusive environment

  • Follow all safety practices and report hazards

  • Maintain reliable attendance and a cooperative, courteous demeanor in all interactions

What We’re Looking For

  • High school diploma, GED, or current high school enrollment

  • Preferably 18+ years old

  • Some clerical training preferred

  • Strong attendance and reliability

  • Ability to act independently with minimal supervision

  • Clear communication skills

  • Ability to respond quickly to resident safety concerns

  • Professional demeanor and ability to relate well to residents, staff, and the public

  • Successful completion of a background check per Wisconsin Caregiver Law

Physical Requirements

  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, and reaching

  • Ability to monitor entrance activity (near and far vision)

  • Regular use of phone, computer, copier, and office materials

  • Occasional lifting of files and office supplies
