Overview
FLSA: Non-Exempt This a technical nursing position within the La Crosse County Long-Term Care Campuses to which employees are appointed by the Director of Nursing Services. Employees work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
Location: Lakeview Health Center, 962 Garland Street East, West Salem, WI 54669
Position Type: Irregular Part-Time (includes every other weekend and holiday rotation)
Shift: PM Shift (2-10: 30p)

Essential Job Functions
Provides care within the provisions of the Nurse Practice Act. [3]
Under supervision of a registered nurse, provides direct nursing care including administering medications and treatments. [1]
Assists in the training and orientation of new personnel. [1]
Evaluates resident needs and assists with the development and implementation of nursing care plans. [2]
Makes clinical observations of resident conditions and behavior and makes accurate and complete nursing notes of those observations in the clinical record. [2]
Works safely and follows safety practices and standards of the facility; responsible for reporting or correcting any existing or potential safety or accident hazard. [2]
Maintains residents' rights and confidentiality of resident information; reports all suspected cases of resident abuse to the Administrator. [3]
Determines and supervises work assignments to provide maximum utilization of Nursing Assistants. Responsible to see that assigned tasks are accomplished. [2]
Prepares daily shift reports and notifies supervisor of change in resident status. [3]
Attends in-service education as provided or mandated. [3]
Supports all aspects of person-centered care. Respects and acknowledges individuality and uniqueness of residents. [3]
In this public service position, employee is required to be courteous, cooperative and respectful at all times, with the public and clients. Also establishes and maintains a courteous, cooperative and respectful working relationship with other employees, supervisors and public officials. [3]
Physical demands:
Up to 75% of time is spent standing and talking.
Walking, hearing, and using near vision are used about 50% of the time.
About 25% of time is spent sitting, bending, twisting, reaching.
Activities done about 10% of time include stooping, crouching, low to very high lifting – up to 60 lbs. to transfer residents and pushing residents in wheelchairs.
Uses nursing related equipment.

Employee is expected to report to work when scheduled, with minimum use of sick leave, to build up sick leave balance for income protection for unexpected illness.[3]

Ability to maintain a clinical perspective and a therapeutic approach in the provision of care and in professional relationships with residents.
Knowledge of medications and skill in their administration as the resident is prescribed.
Compliance with standards of nursing practice.
Compliance with facility policies and procedures.
Ability to coordinate and determine work assignments of subordinate personnel and supervise their job performance.
Training, Experience and Other Requirements
Requires graduation from an accredited nursing program with current Licensed Practical Nurse license in the State of Wisconsin.
Preference for nursing experience in a long-term care facility.
Those persons driving must have and maintain a valid Wisconsin driver license and good driving record
Must maintain a valid Wisconsin nursing license.
Must successfully pass a background check as required by the Wisconsin Caregiver Law.
