What We Are Looking For

The primary purpose of the Operator role will be using heavy equipment to move various commodities within the terminal.

What You Will Do

• Operator heavy equipment such as front-end loader, sweeper, skid steers, excavators, forklifts, and conveyors to move commodities: salt, fertilizer, soda ash, steel, and other various dry bulk commodities
• Loading and unloading services by truck, rail, vessel and barge
• Processing and packaging commodities
• Perform mechanical maintenance on heavy equipment, as needed
• Other duties as assigned

What You Need

Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent

Required Qualifications:

• Must have a good mechanical aptitude
• Prior experience operating heavy equipment such as front end loaders, forklifts, sweeper operation and conveyors
• Must have knowledge and experience with packaging and palletizing equipment; must be able to withstand extreme weather conditions majority of the time will be working outside
• The ability to work from written and verbal instructions
• Must be able to work with a team, take direction from supervisors(s), adhere to required work schedules, focus attention on details, and follow work rules, as well as take on other duties as assigned
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers
• Typical hours for this position are 7: 00 a.m. to 3: 30 p.m.
• Must be willing to work overtime, weekends and holidays as needed
• Maintain a regular, dependable attendance and high level of performance
• Positively interact with customers and respond to customer inquiries
• Basic computer skills (knowledge of MS Office, various operating systems, and other company software)

Preferred Qualifications:

• CDL

Working Conditions:

• Able to lift as much as 50 lbs. as high as waist level
• Must be able to climb ladders and stairs and raise your body weight as high as four feet
• Must not have a fear of water or heights
• The ability to swim is a plus
• Ability to take initiative and work with coworkers to accomplish defined goals in a fast-paced environment
