Position Description
•This position is responsible for performing scheduled and non routine maintenance on all equipment. Repairs, replaces, and troubleshoots defective parts. Install, maintain, diagnose, and repair conveyor systems related to moving bulk products..
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES:
Contractor Management: Coordinate with external vendors and contractors for specialized repairs with the approval from the Terminal Manager.
Documentation: Maintain accurate logs of maintenance, repairs, parts used, and labor hours in maintenance management system "Maximo".
•The successful maintenance and repair of conveyor systems, and related equipment to facilitate the successful operation of a bulk handling terminal.
•Equipment expertise should include experience with conveyors, pumps, motors, controls, and other related equipment.
•Insert shims, adjust tension on nuts and bolts, position parts, and set specified clearances between moving and stationary parts.
•Manipulate rollers, pulleys, install mechanical belt slices, and perform other conveyor belt related maintenance.
••Systems expertise should include hydraulic and pneumatic attachments, cable handling devices, control systems..
•Conduct repairs on conveyor systems and associated components and equipment when required.
•Assemble machines and bolt, weld, rivet, or otherwise fasten them to foundations or other structures.
•Move machinery and equipment using hoists, dollies, rollers, and trucks. Move machinery and equipment as needed to check out and repair.
•Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
•Use hand tools, power tools and precision measuring and testing instruments to perform vibration testing, laser alignments, etc.).
•Execute and maintain necessary records, including work orders, inventory, and job hazard analyses.
•Effectively communicate with operations, maintenance, and management.
•Respond to call-out for off duty maintenance needs.
•Upkeep of assigned equipment or tools.
•Operate a variety of tools/equipment such as cutting torch, welder, forklift, hand tools, manlifts, electric hoists, power tools (impact wrench, drills, etc.).
•Utilize proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for the assigned tasks and report damaged protective equipment and unsafe conditions to their Supervisor.
•Attend daily safety meetings; participate in and show proficiency (through written exam) in general and site specific operations and maintenance training programs for KM environmental, health, and safety standards.
•The mechanic may be assigned to general duties in all areas of operations of the terminals.
Position Requirements
•Successful completion of 1-3 years of work experience in the field of equipment maintenance, hydraulics, welding, pneumatics, conveyors or related systems
•Two+ years of directly related maintenance or mechanical training/experience in a plant-type environment.
•Familiarity with conveyor systems and associate maintenance, specifically those using PLC's.
•In order to appropriately perform the essential duties of this job, regular work attendance is required.
•Able to carry out supervisor's instructions.
•Self-motivated.
•Safety in performance of duties common to the position.
Ability to lift heavy objects (50+ lbs), climb ladders, and work in varied weather conditions, drive heavy machinery and work at heights while wearing fall protection.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
•Must possess and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator's license.
Computer Skills: Proficiency in MS Office and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) software (e.g., Maximo, Kronos).
WORKING CONDITIONS:
•Must be able available to perform day shift work, rotating day/night and holidays when repairs necessitate.
•Must be able to respond in a timely manner to emergency call outs which can include nights, weekends and holidays.
Both indoor and outdoor, involving exposure to extreme heat or cold, noise, machinery, and, at times, hazardous materials
