Lead Process Engineer

Job Description

This role will provide leadership and creativity in the design, development, optimization, problem solving, and operation of assigned assets & supporting processes in a manner that meets safety and operational performance expectations. This position will focus on driving continuous improvement and leading troubleshooting and problem solving to drive process improvements for the assets they support.

In this role, you will:

  • Design and implement safe, compliant equipment and processes that protect personnel and meet operational standards.

  • Lead medium-to-large initiatives to enhance asset performance, drive system improvements, and achieve strategic objectives.

  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and manage expenses within asset budgets.

  • Apply engineering, scientific analysis, LEAN, and project management principles to solve complex process issues.

  • Support maintenance teams in troubleshooting and reliability projects; document equipment issues and opportunities.

  • Contribute to site training plans and provide engineering support including on-call and shift coverage.

  • Guide safety teams and trial planning efforts; collaborate across departments to ensure alignment with long-term vision.

  • Provide input on capital and expense planning, including early-stage design, equipment selection, and commissioning.

  • Coordinate with utilities/facilities to manage operational impacts and implement effective solutions.

To succeed in this role, you will need the following qualifications:

  • Requires a Bachelor or advanced degree in Chemical Engineering or Paper Science or related discipline
  • A 3+ years of industrial experience in a variety of technical or operational assignments in a high-speed consumer product manufacturing and/or staff environment.
  • A demonstrated ability to work independently, or as part of a team to complete projects within required timeframes
  • Experience using manufacturing analysis tools, such as: statistical process control, design of experiments, process capability studies, Six Sigma and lean manufacturing.
  • Multiple years of experience in a variety of mill manufacturing and staff support or capital project assignments, including product, process and asset support, is a plus.
  • Extensive knowledge with personal care wipes production equipment, materials, and processes is preferred.
  • Experience working with external technical service provider, is preferred.
  • Familiarity with high-speed manufacturing equipment machine startups, a plus.
  • Flexibility to travel up to 15% for benchmarking and best practice sharing across North America facilities.

Salary Range: 85, 540 – 105, 620 USD

The anticipated base pay range for this role is provided above for a fully qualified hire. Actual pay will depend on several factors, such as location, role, skills, performance, and experience. Please note that the stated pay range applies to US locations only.
