Primary Purpose of the Role

Reporting to the VP of Finance for the Consumer Division, the Plant Controller oversees financial operations, ensures accurate reporting, and drives operational efficiency within a manufacturing plant. The role focuses on providing financial insights to support manufacturing processes, cost optimization, and strategic decision-making.

The position requires expertise in Financial Planning & Analysis (FP& A), Operations, and Manufacturing Finance, with a strong emphasis on manufacturing environments. The Plant Controller is expected to demonstrate strong analytical skills, a commitment to quality, and the ability to deliver impactful solutions and innovative problem-solving independently.

Essential Job Duties
  • Oversee financial operations for the plant, including cost accounting, budgeting, and forecasting, to support the Consumer Division's annual and strategic objectives.
  • Provide actionable financial insights to business leaders on a regular and ad hoc basis, including:
    • Profit and loss variance analysis against prior year, budget, and forecast.
    • Cost analysis, including scenario modeling, process efficiency reviews, and profitability evaluations.
  • Collaborate with the VP of Finance - Consumer Division and plant leadership to develop and implement an integrated business plan that achieves annual and long-term strategic objectives.
  • Support the VP of Finance in producing and refining monthly forecasts, annual budgets, and periodic reporting processes, providing direct analysis to inform leadership decisions.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of operational risks and opportunities, incorporating key internal and external factors into forecasts and budgets, and supporting leadership with scenario planning.
  • Develop financial summaries and analyses, initiate process enhancements, identify cost-saving opportunities, and provide actionable information to influence stakeholders.
  • Establish and maintain robust internal controls to reduce financial risks and ensure compliance.
  • Oversee the quality of financial data systems through standardized reporting, exception resolution, and validation processes.
  • Contribute to strategic projects as assigned, focusing on manufacturing efficiency and profitability.
  • Execute special projects prioritized by the VP of Finance - Consumer Division and CFO.
  • Partner with operations leadership on continuous improvement and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Collaborate with procurement and logistics leaders to analyze raw material costs, track trends, and support negotiation strategies through financial analysis.
  • Conduct analyses to determine accurate manufacturing costs and project profitability.
  • Play a key role in capital expenditure (CapEx) planning and investment decisions.
  • Develop processes to streamline financial closing procedures, enhancing organizational efficiency.
  • Build and manage budgets for supply chain functions, explaining monthly variances.
  • Prioritize high-impact initiatives, both short-term and strategic, to improve cost structures and profitability.
  • Provide analytical support and guidance to other financial roles within the organization.

Required Skills and Abilities
  • 5-10 years of finance experience or equivalent experience
  • Ambitious personality willing to challenge status quo
  • Manufacturing company background is preferred
  • Ability to take on complex and ambiguous problems, whether financial or otherwise, and solve them creatively
  • Demonstrated professional approach and ambition to grow in career
  • Ability to build strong relationships, partner with various levels of management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to clearly communicate complex financial concepts to multiple audiences
  • Strong business background, analytical, organization, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong focus on detail and the ability to handle complexity
