Summary - basic function of the role Material Handlers (Temporary Summer Help) support a smooth and efficient production flow across the Columbus facility during peak seasonal demand. This role assists with supplying work cells, moving materials, supporting shipping and receiving activities, and maintaining organized work areas. This is a short-term, entry-level opportunity designed to provide hands-on experience in a manufacturing and warehouse environment.

Shift: Monday - Friday; 7: 00 am - 3: 30 pm; Saturdays when production needs exist.

This temporary summer position is designed for college students seeking full-time employment during their summer break. The role provides hands-on experience in a manufacturing and warehouse environment while supporting seasonal production needs. Start and end dates can be aligned with individual school schedules.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Supply work Material Flow & Production Support

  • Assist in supplying work cells with materials required for product assembly
  • Support movement of components to production areas and transport finished goods to warehouse and shipping
  • Help maintain proper material flow to support daily production needs
  • Assist with basic inventory tasks such as cycle counting and material organization

Warehouse & Inventory Transactions
  • Use handheld RF scanners to support basic inventory transactions (training provided)
  • Assist in picking, verifying, and packing orders for shipment
  • Support receiving, verifying, and distributing incoming materials
  • Help maintain clean, organized staging and storage areas

Equipment Operation
  • May operate material-handling equipment such as pallet jacks and forklifts upon successful completion of training
  • Follow all guidelines for safe equipment use

Safety & Compliance
  • Follow all safety rules for production and warehouse areas.
  • Safely operate equipment and immediately report hazards or near misses.
  • Maintain organized, safe work areas in accordance with 5S principles.

Other Responsibilities
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned to support production and warehouse flow.
  • Participate in on-the-job training and follow direction from supervisors and team leads


Skills and Competencies Basic attention to detail when handling and counting materials
Ability to follow instructions and adhere to established processes

Basic communication skills
Comfort using basic tools or technology (e.g., scanners) with training provided
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities
Dependable with good attendance and punctuality
Ability to read, write, and speak basic English
Ability to work safely and follow all safety guidelines
Ability to stand, walk, and perform physical tasks throughout the shift
Ability to work at heights as needed

Education and Experience

Education Requirements : High School Diploma or GED

Experience Requirements: • No prior experience required - training will be provided
• Previous warehouse, retail, or hands-on work experience is a plus but not required
• Forklift experience is not required; training may be provided if applicable
• Must be reliable, willing to learn, and able to follow instructions
• Positive attitude and willingness to contribute as part of a team

Physical Demands

Ability to lift 1-30 pounds intermittently, and frequently lift 10 pounds. Employee may have to lift documents/work materials up to 75 pounds (assisted lift) in weight. Employee will have to be able to walk to a variety of primary work locations. Employee will need to listen, understand, and speak with team members at all levels within a diverse workforce. Employee will stand 100% of workday occasionally bends 90 degrees and occasionally twist 45 degrees.

Work Environment

Employee will be in a manufacturing environment where they may work near moving mechanical parts and may be exposed to vibration. Employee will be exposed to elevated levels of noise on the plant floor.
