Summary - basic function of the role

The Production Supervisor operates at the tactical level, ensuring the seamless execution of daily manufacturing activities while driving operational efficiency, quality, and safety. They provide hands-on leadership by overseeing frontline employees and developing Leads-who serve as first-line leaders but not formal supervisors. This role focuses on optimizing workflow, problem-solving production challenges, and fostering a high-performance culture through training, coaching, and continuous improvement. Working closely with Value Stream Managers and cross-functional teams, the Production Supervisor ensures that performance targets are met while maintaining a safe and compliant work environment. Through strategic workforce management and process oversight, they drive productivity, engagement, and long-term operational success.

Shift: Monday - Friday; 8 - 4: 30 pm or 8: 30 - 5: 00 pm; flexible

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Execute Daily Production & Workflow Management: Oversee manufacturing operations to ensure efficient workflow, on-time production, and minimal disruptions while meeting safety, quality, delivery, and cost (SQDC) goals.
  • Supervise, Develop, and Coach Leads: Directly manage, mentor, and train Leads and Water Spiders ensuring they are effectively coaching frontline employees, driving accountability, and escalating issues appropriately.
  • Monitor & Improve Key Performance Metrics (KPIs): Track production data, efficiency rates, safety incidents, and quality performance; use insights to drive improvements and align with Value Stream Manager (VSM) goals.
  • Ensure Quality & Compliance Standards: Conduct product inspections, enforce adherence to work instructions, and drive corrective actions to maintain Enerpac's quality standards and regulatory compliance.
  • Resolve Production Issues & Remove Roadblocks: Work alongside Leads, Quality, Engineering, and Maintenance teams to identify and troubleshoot production challenges, ensuring minimal downtime and consistent output.
  • Enforce Safety & 5S Standards: Champion a zero-incident culture, ensuring employees follow safety policies, 5S principles, and regulatory requirements while maintaining a clean, organized workspace.
  • Manage Workforce Performance & Engagement: Provide constructive feedback, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions as needed, ensuring consistent coaching, accountability, and professional development for Leads and frontline employees.
  • Drive Continuous Improvement & Lean Manufacturing: Implement Lean methodologies, process standardization, and continuous improvement initiatives to optimize efficiency, eliminate waste, and enhance operational effectiveness.
  • Communicate & Collaborate with Leadership & Cross-Functional Teams: Act as the primary link between Leads and the VSM, ensuring clear communication on production performance, staffing needs, labor planning, and improvement opportunities. Collaborate with schedulers to determine correct staffing levels, evaluate overtime needs, and align resources to meet production demands.
  • Ensure Accurate Reporting & Documentation: Maintain production reports, compliance records, and workforce documentation, ensuring readiness for audits, performance reviews, and continuous improvement tracking.
  • Oversee Production Operations: Direct and support up to 40 employees to ensure products and components are built to Enerpac's quality, safety, and efficiency standards, following work instructions, bill of materials, and best practices.
  • Lead Onboarding and Talent Integration - Support the hiring process by reviewing applications, conducting interviews, and coordinating with HR. Oversee new hire onboarding by providing plant tours, assigning a qualified buddy and trainer, attending new hire orientation lunches, and creating structured 30/60/90-day plans to ensure successful integration and early employee engagement.

  • Leadership & Team Development - Strong ability to coach, mentor, and develop Leads and frontline employees, fostering a culture of accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement. Experience in managing performance and driving team success.
  • Problem-Solving & Decision-Making - Skilled in identifying, analyzing, and resolving production challenges in a fast-paced environment. Ability to make data-driven decisions that optimize efficiency, minimize downtime, and improve overall operations.
  • Operational & Process Management - Thorough understanding of Lean manufacturing principles, workflow optimization, quality control standards, and cost management to drive efficiency and maintain production goals.
  • Safety & Compliance Enforcement - Expertise in safety regulations, 5S practices, and workplace compliance to ensure a secure, organized, and legally compliant manufacturing environment. Ability to implement and enforce best practices.
  • Communication & Cross-Functional Collaboration - Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively coordinate with Leads, Value Stream Managers, Engineering, Maintenance, and other departments to align production goals and resolve operational issues.


Minimum Requirements:
  • Associate degree in a related field (Manufacturing, Business, Engineering, or similar) OR equivalent industry experience.
  • 3+ years of leadership or supervisory experience in a manufacturing or production environment.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in management, Engineering, Business, or Industrial Operations.
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Experience working with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Strong background in process management, quality control, and workforce development.
  • Hands-on experience with inventory management systems, production scheduling, and compliance regulations.


Physical Demands:

Employee will lift 1-30 pounds intermittently and may have to lift documents/work materials up to 70 pounds (assisted lift) in weight. Employee will have to be able to walk, bend and lift for a significant portion of the role. Employee will need manual (hand) dexterity to assemble/repair small parts for long periods of time. Employee will need to listen, understand, and speak with team members at all levels within a diverse workforce.

Work Environment:

Employee will be in a manufacturing environment where they may work near moving mechanical parts and may be exposed to electrical shock and vibration. Employee will be exposed to elevated levels of noise on the plant floor.
