Job Title: Application Engineer/Project Manager

Job Location: Sussex, WI (In Office)

Role Description:

The Application Engineer/Project Manager will need the initiative and focus to manage all bid projects throughout the entire bidding cycle, including prospecting, take-offs, quoting/estimating, sales, submittals, delivery, and post-sale functions. You will need to be able to communicate to customers and engineers in an open, helpful, and engaging manner with the emphasis on delivering the best overall solution to our customers. Cooperation with other inside sales specialists, outside sales, the service department, and our suppliers will be a must to ensure we are providing first class service to our customers. With an aspect of this job being customer-facing, this position will require the Application Engineer/Project Manager to be an ambassador for Dorner Co, who’s technical expertise and communication will help us retain our preferred supplier status.

Job Responsibilities (Including, But Not Limited To):

  • Project management, take-offs, estimating, submittals, O& Ms, start-up coordination
  • Maintaining sales interface between customers and outside sales
  • Becoming proficient with selecting and applying represented product lines
  • Continuing to master product knowledge by participating in supplier training
  • Fielding customer inquiries and calls
  • Applying product knowledge to select appropriate products for customer application
  • Generating detailed quotes and preproposal documents for customers
  • Developing strong working relationships with customers and principles to help improve our strategic positions
  • Being a customer resource for product and technical knowledge
  • Generating additional revenue by upselling products and expanding quoted scope
  • Maintaining customer contact information in CRM software program
  • Assisting outside sales in tracking and following up on quotations
  • Accurately processing customer transactions such as orders, quotes, returns, etc
  • Creating purchase orders to factories for products to fill customer orders
  • Expediting backorders
  • Handling customer post sale customer requests for warranty, returns, etc.

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS degree in mechanical or electrical engineering
  • Strong communications skills to be able to talk with customers and co-workers clearly and concisely.
  • Commitment to providing outstanding customer service
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to schedule and prioritize duties
  • Fluid control/handling experience preferred
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite (i.e. Excel, Outlook).
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Must be honest, respectful, have sound work ethics, and possess a positive attitude.
