The Coding Compliance Coordinator Apprentice position will include provider auditing and training on documentation and coding to ensure VC receives appropriate reimbursement and conforms to applicable guidelines and regulations.Coaching for first twelve months will include feedback on physician auditing results, training materials and/or classes. Next twelve months will develop the necessary skills to potentially fulfill an independent Coding Compliance Coordinator role.
Current CCS-A or CPC-A certification or equivalent required! ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Participates in all training opportunities offered and achieves increasing levels of coding expertise as demonstrated by passing proficiency tests.
- Develops and maintains an in-depth knowledge of ICD10, CPT and HCPCS coding and Correct Coding Initiatives (CCI).
- Assist, as needed, in training providers in correct documentation, procedure and diagnosis coding after proficiency has been demonstrated.
- Audit provider services after proficiency has been demonstrated.
- Keeps Providers, Clinical Coders, and Clinic Managers informed about coding policies via email, memos and periodic meetings.
- Assist in review of inquiries for correct coding as requested by Patient Financial Services (PFS).
- Acts as resource or liaison to answer coding and documentation questions as needed.
- Attends all staff meetings, in-service meetings, and other meetings as requested.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES: - Strong working Medical Terminology knowledge required.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Typing skill of at least 45 wpm.
- Working knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding and National Correct Coding Initiatives (NCCI).
- Ability to train and audit new and established providers as skills are mastered.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: - High school diploma or equivalent required
- Current CCS-A or CPC-A certification or equivalent required.
- Minimum of one-year experience in an ambulatory care setting required.
- Strongly prefer those with coding or medical billing experience.
- Must have a valid driver's license and qualify as an acceptable driver per Vancouver Clinic policy.
Pay Range:
$22.98 - $32.17
