The Vancouver Clinic
Medical Assistant (MA) Apprentice program is an on-the-job, earn-as-you-learn training program designed to equip candidates with the skills and knowledge to complete requirements needed to obtain a Washington State, Medical Assistant-Certified credential. The Vancouver Clinic Apprentice program is approved by the State of Washington Department of Health as equivalent to an MA-C program at a community or technical college.
The MA-Apprentice pay rate starts at a
non-negotiable $18.43/hour and increases to $19.48/hour when completing the last 1, 000 hours of on-the-job training. Additionally, MA-Apprentice receive a $1, 000 bonus after successful completion of three months and $1, 000 bonus after successful completion of nine months and must commit to service agreement with bonus repayment terms.

- Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS), or obtain within 60-days of transfer or hire
- Demonstrate commitment to program and service agreement

Applicants selected for the program are full-time Vancouver Clinic employees (MA-Apprentice), with benefits and competitive wages. The MA-Apprentice must commit to attendance requirements during the program. The program includes didactic, skills-lab, and on-the-job training.

Benefits-eligible employees accrue PTO and Personal Time based on hours worked and State worked, totaling 120 hours in the first year for full time staff and 200 hours in the first year for full time supervisors and above, increasing in subsequent years. PTO and Personal Time accruals are pro-rated by FTE/hours worked. Non-benefits eligible employees will accrue Personal Time based on hours worked and State worked.
