Job Overview: We are seeking qualified applicants for our Diesel Mechanic role. The Diesel Mechanic must demonstrate initiative, be dependable, self-motivated, and work effectively within a team environment. This is a Safety-Sensitive position subject to random drug and alcohol screening. Responsibilities: With minimal supervision, this self-starter will: - Perform routine preventative maintenance and respond to unplanned repair needs. - Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair diesel systems in compliance with manufacturer and site-specific requirements. - Work on a variety of plant vehicles and equipment, including diesel engines, pumping units, and site transport vehicles. - Read, interpret, and maintain mechanical and wiring schematics. - Maintain documentation for PMs, calibrations, repairs, and compliance requirements. - Ensure adherence to equipment bulletins, alerts, and safety guidelines. - Maintain and track spare parts inventory; purchase parts as needed. - Follow all PPE requirements (safety glasses, gloves, respirators, etc.) according to job task and hazard exposure. - Operate vehicles requiring CDL or Non-CDL classification, depending on assignment. Physical Requirements: This role requires frequent physical activity, including: - Heavy lifting: 50-100 lbs occasionally; 25 lbs constantly - Moderate lifting and carrying: 20-50 lbs occasionally - Standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crawling, and climbing - Use of both hands for fine motor manipulation - Ability to distinguish basic color shades - Adequate vision (correctable to required standards) and hearing capability - Ability to perform tasks requiring rapid mental/muscular coordination - Work in varying environmental conditions including hot, humid, cool, or arid areas This position requires meeting physical standards associated with manual labor and safety-sensitive job duties. Qualifications: - High school diploma or equivalency - Minimum 3 years diesel mechanic or heavy-equipment experience preferred - Ability to obtain or maintain CDL (Interstate or Intrastate), depending on site requirements - Working knowledge of preventative maintenance standards - Basic computer proficiency (Word, Excel; ability to learn diagnostic software) - Ability to manage maintenance schedules, documentation, and repair workflows - Experience with hydraulics, cryogenic systems, and safety relief systems is a plus - Ability to obtain brake and/or AC certification if required Skills: - Diesel engine diagnostics & repair - Mechanical troubleshooting - Hydraulic systems (preferred) - Equipment/system safety awareness - Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities Work Environment: - 8-hour shift; shift work may be required depending on operational needs - Exposure to hot/humid or cool/arid environments - Participation in safety or medical surveillance programs (e.g., Hearing Conservation) - Use of required PPE including respirators, hearing protection, safety boots, and more About Linde: Linde is a leading global industrial gases and engineering company with 2024 sales of $33 billion.
