About the Role:

QT Perth is seeking an experienced Chief Engineer to lead the hotel’s engineering and maintenance operations. This senior leadership role protects the integrity, safety and performance of the hotel’s building, plant and equipment while supporting EVT’s vision of creating experiences that escape the ordinary.

You will oversee all building services including Mechanical/HVAC, Electrical, Fire, Hydraulics and general maintenance. The role manages preventative maintenance programs, statutory compliance, essential services, contractor performance and departmental budgets. As part of the senior leadership team, you’ll work closely with hotel management and be available to support after‑hours operational or building‑related emergencies when required.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver effective maintenance services across all hotel departments
• Manage work requests, contractors and procurement through myBuildings
• Lead preventative maintenance planning and audit readiness
• Maintain essential services, fire systems and WHS compliance
• Oversee R& M budgets, utilities monitoring and capital works support
• Ensure hazard‑free plant rooms, workshops and egress paths
• Provide training, SOP development and emergency procedure readiness
• Participate in WHS, EPC and ECO committees
• Review contractor KPIs and identify sustainable maintenance practices

Skills & Experience:

• 5+ years’ experience as a Maintenance Manager or Chief Engineer
• Trade background
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Professional customer service and presentation
• Ability to compute mathematical calculations
• Effective, logical and resourceful problem‑solving skill

Desired skills:

• Trade diploma, engineering degree or relevant tertiary qualification
• Experience in 5‑star hospitality
