Description

The Laundry position at Colonial Vista Post Acute plays a vital role in ensuring a safe and hygienic environment for both patients and staff. As a key member of the healthcare team, the Laundry worker is responsible for handling, cleaning, and maintaining linen and garment supplies used throughout the facility. This includes everything from bed linens and towels to surgical scrubs and other garments that are essential for optimal patient care. The role is physically demanding and requires attention to detail, as the cleanliness of ordered items directly affects patient safety and the overall operational efficiency of the healthcare environment. The successful applicant will operate and maintain industrial laundry equipment, sort and categorize items based on specific guidelines, and adhere strictly to health and safety standards. This position is essential in supporting Colonial Vista's mission to provide high-quality healthcare services, requiring workers to have a strong commitment to team collaboration, reliability, and excellent organizational skills. Working in the laundry department provides an opportunity for individuals to contribute significantly to the health and well-being of the community while also providing an essential service that keeps the healthcare facility running smoothly.
Responsibilities
  • Sort and categorize soiled linens, garments, and other items according to established procedures.
  • Load and unload laundry machines with designated items for washing and drying.
  • Monitor and adjust laundry machines for optimal performance and efficiency during operation.
  • Ensure adherence to health and safety standards by following all cleaning protocols and infection control procedures.
  • Empty waste bins and remove lint from machines as part of routine maintenance and cleanliness.
  • Inspect cleaned items for quality control and prepare them for distribution throughout the facility.
  • Keep the laundry area clean and organized, performing regular cleaning tasks to maintain a hygienic workspace.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous experience in a laundry or healthcare setting is an advantage.
  • Ability to operate industrial laundry machinery and follow safety protocols.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to recognize discrepancies in linen and garment condition.
  • Physical stamina to perform repetitive tasks and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Good communication skills to coordinate with team members and other departments.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
