POSITION SUMMARY Applications Engineer III position is for people that have a passion for supporting customers and a broad technical background. A background in telecommunications, Data Centers, networking, DC power and how the physical layer supports these businesses is a must. This position will have broad authority to support customers on post-sales support and mentor junior staff in the application engineering department ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The statements in this job description are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by incumbents. Ability to understand engineering concepts and theories and how they relate to our products Develop solutions to problems with limited information from customers and present those solutions Subject matter expert for physical layer infrastructure and how ANS is able to provide solutions Works to train and expand the knowledge base within the department and the company as a whole Mentor other engineers and supervise more difficult customer problems Interfaces with customers when difficulties on installation or operation of a ANS product is found Ensures all customer interactions finalize in resolution Works with quality, planning and other internal customers to make sure our external customers are satisfied Assists in evaluating functional characteristics of new and existing products Assists in evaluation of technical documentation for new products Provides input to product management on requested features or potential opportunities for development of new products Works with customers to provide custom layout drawings and BOM's for configured ANS products Works to develop training programs for internal and external customers Develops Visio models from existing ANS products Provides on-site support as needed for troubleshooting or installation of new products Have a passion for learning and for being even more valuable each and every year. Develop solutions to problems of moderate to advanced complexity. Follows up with customers to ensure that problems are resolved. Contributes to the establishment of goals and receives assignments for those goals. Interacts with people to build productive working relationships. Participates in team projects. Able to own and lead projects to technical completion. Participates and may even lead technical and organizational processes, practices, and methods. Regular and predictable attendance is required. Visio experience is required to create configured drawings. SolidWorks is the 3D modeling system we use and experience is a plus. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical field, or the equivalent of 8 years plus directly related work experience. Ability to understand more advanced engineering concepts specific to ANS applications. Microsoft Office is still the standard, but technology moves fast and thus a willingness to learn and try is important. Proficient in the use of word processing, spreadsheets, presentation, databases, and E-mail software, preferably with Microsoft Office products. PHYSICAL & MENTAL DEMANDS This employee must be able to move 25 pounds, and must be able to sit and type for extended periods of time. You may have occasional travel no more than 25% WORK ENVIRONMENT This position will require travel within Amphenol locations, customers and potentially suppliers outside of the company.
