About the Role

Are you ready to lead innovation and drive strategic direction of our Mining Systems product portfolio? Our Information Technology & Automation Solutions (ITAS) team are on the lookout for a Senior IT Applications Consultant that will support all Alcoa’s systems across the mining value chain, from Exploration to the Stockyards.

As our Senior IT Applications Consultant, you will be supported by the Product Line Lead and prioritise customer needs and initiatives, shape product roadmaps, optimise resource allocation and balance the needs of solutions that transform the way our mining teams operate. You will enjoy working in a diverse portfolio that will consist of the Environmental, Spatial and Integrated Planning, Fleet & Maintenance systems, plus many more empowering innovation opportunities in Mining.

In this role, you will work closely with various operational and technical teams to support the development and delivery of operations management solutions and contribute to the overall business strategy by:

  • Business Engagement: Engaging with the BPO and other key business contacts to gather requirements, provide product updates, and manage expectations.

  • Development of a Product Roadmap: Collaborating with the BPO to define and maintain a product roadmap that aligns with the business strategy.

  • Delivery of Product Initiatives: Leading the delivery of product initiatives within agreed timelines and cost.

  • Product Support and Continuous Improvement: Supporting products within the product line to minimise downtime or any such business disruptions.

  • Product Line Integration: Identifying opportunities for integration and collaboration between different product lines to enhance the overall value proposition and customer experience.

What you can bring to the role

  • Tertiary qualifications in Software Engineering, Computer Science or a related IT field.

  • Extensive experience in developing, deploying or supporting Mining Applications (MES / Process Control).

  • High-level expertise in Ampla with working knowledge of PI Historian.

  • A deep understanding of Mining processes (Mine Planning, Drill and Blast, Load and Haul, Ore Handling) and supporting functions such as Maintenance.

  • Knowledge of IT Infrastructure, Middleware and Infrastructure Services with exposure to Cloud and Cloud Based technologies.

  • Highly developed communication skills with an ability to articulate complex and influence at senior levels.

  • A collaborative approach to negotiate and effectively align efforts and achieve shared goals.

  • Adaptability and flexibility to embrace change and ambiguity, by adjusting plans and priorities as necessary to keep the product line on track.

  • An analytical mind to evaluating options, making timely decisions whilst weighing risks and benefits, and considering diverse perspective when creating solutions.
