Maintenance Technician
The Maintenance Technician II I is responsible for monitoring, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining plant processing, facility, and support equipment.
Location: Websterville, VT (Barre)
Pay: $30.36 - $35.36/hr.
Hours: 1st Shift; Monday - Friday. 7am - 330pm, possible overtime as needed.
Required Qualifications & Experiences - 2 years prior industrial maintenance experience, knowledge and/or education .
- Moderate computer skills .
- Communicates work order progress to supervisor and production operators .
- Ability to read, write, comprehend, follow verbal and written instructions, and possess basic mathematical skills .
- Possess mechanical aptitude. Some experience with mechanical systems, utilizing product manuals, troubleshooting mechanical breakdowns, and reading mechanical drawings.
Preferred Qualifications & Experiences - High School Diploma or GED .
- 2 + years' experience with basic electrical systems, compressors, welding, plumbing, conveyers, hydraulics, packaging, PLC, pneumatics, preventive maintenance, and pumps.
- Forklift experience preferred or willing to be trained for certification .

Essential Functions & Responsibilities - Engagement- Safety and Quality:
- Actively works with operations to continually find safer, more efficient ways to complete tasks/operate equipment
- Assist in training/developing Mech 1 and 2 employees on safety and quality compliance, recommending disciplinary actions to supervisor when necessary
- Assists in accident/near miss reporting and investigations
- Ensures all maintenance employees are properly trained in quality and comply with GMPs, HACCP and all other quality regulations
- Ensures compliance of maintenance staff with all policies and procedures (OSHA, BCORP, etc)
- Takes initiative with personal and professional development
- Must be self-directed; understand priorities and continue to develop decision making to support work center efficiency
- Must be able to work with a certain level of autonomy
- Integration of Competencies:
- If a temporary repair is needed make sure that there is a plan in place, as well as a timeline for, when the permanent repair will be completed. Communicate to the stakeholders of the temp fix as well as follow up actions
- Must have proper fabrication/project education and experience
- Advanced troubleshooting skills for manufacturing equipment, packaging equipment and building systems
- Strong mechanical industrial skills
- Work with parts planner and supervisor to update/create PMs as needed as well as add new parts to stock
- Plan, perform and oversee preventative maintenance on equipment
- Plan and perform routine system evaluations of mechanical equipment, identifying performance trends or issues and recommend course of action
- Oversee other shift mechanics to ensure that breakdowns, PMs and other work requests are being addressed timely and effectively
- Trains and oversees departmental maintenance and repair of equipment. Supervises completion of repairs per manufacturer's specifications
- Develop and conduct training modules when assigned
Essential Physical Requirements - Frequent movement including walking, standing, bending/stooping, turning, twisting, pushing, pulling, raising arms, lifting, climbing and other active movements .
- Performing duties while wearing personal protective equipment .
- Working across temperature zones that may include cold and/or hot environments for extended periods and may include work in environments where dust is present .
- Shift schedules that include days, nights, and weekends, some holidays and periodic overtime .
