Job Description:

THE OPPORTUNITY

Johnson & Johnson is responsible for bringing innovative medicines to patients around the world. Within J& J, E& PS FM is responsible for managing the facilities and utilities at all sites. In Belgium the scope of E& PS FM includes the sites in Beerse, Geel, Olen, La Louvière, Courcelles and Ghent.

In Ghent J& J is operating CAR-T: chimeric antigen receptor T-cell therapy. This is a new and innovative approach to eliminate cancer cells. It works by harnessing the power of a patient’s own immune system. That power is created from the patients’ T cells and is engineered to eliminate cancer cells expressing a specific antigen.

The Ghent E& PS FM team manages the critical installations, facilities and utilities (steam, cooling installations, heating equipment, water systems, compressed air, high voltage, etc.) of/for the Ghent manufacturing hubs. The main goal of the E& PS team in Ghent is to ensure that the building and building systems are available 24/7 in a safe and compliant manner for the occupants and their activities. To join, assist, support and lead the team, the EP& S FM team in Ghent is recruiting a facilities manager for the 2 production sites in Ghent and the future expansions. The position will be based in Ghent (Belgium), reporting into the senior facilities manager. Close collaboration with several related departments and partners is indispensable for the functioning of the Ghent E& PS FM team. Amongst many others there are the E& PS FM team based in Beerse, the MAM team in Ghent and the Legend Biotech maintenance team.

Major responsibilities include:

  • Mentor / lead a team of engineers, planners, specialists, technicians and contractors who are all together as a team responsible for ensuring the 24/7 continuous operational readiness of our sites.
  • Establish and maintain excellent relationships with key internal and external stakeholders and our partners.
  • Together with the senior manager of the team, act as the points of contact towards building users, quality, EHS², compliance and the entire E& PS organization.
  • System owner during start-up/construction phase of new projects and installation and liaison between business units and contractors during planning / construction as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with global Health Authority regulations / guidelines and internal operating procedures processes. Where required participate in Health Authority inspections and internal audits or ensure the team and the team’s activities are audit ready.
  • Participate in the implementation and maintenance of business continuity plans, emergency response plans and infrastructure management programs.
  • Responsible for day-by-day annual site and maintenance costs and budgets.
  • Operate the technical installations efficiently to prevent production downtime. It is important to find a balance between robust, reliable and high-quality installations on the one hand and a cost-competitive approach to maintenance on the other.
  • Solve all problems related to the installations and systems having an impact on safety, environment, sustainability, cost and reliability. Ensure compliance with local, federal and relevant international regulations (e.g. FDA, FAGG, …).
  • Establish a culture focused on professionalism and continuous improvement based on KPI’s, benchmarking and sharing best practices between sites and departments.
  • You are responsible for the employees who work within the team. You must provide an inclusive work environment where each person must be considered as an individual. You ensure continuous development of your employees in various disciplines, both soft and hard skills.
  • Safety is of the utmost importance. No compromises are made. In addition to safety, the team -without any exception in time or in resources- actively contributes to and respects the QMS. Applying all GMP and procedures is a minimum.
  • You initiate, stimulate and support the implementation of improvement proposals.

Our bar is high. We do everything we can to avoid mediocrity.
