About the Role

We’re seeking a Hotel Accountant to join our team at a new acquisition that EVT has recently acquired in Flagstaff Gardens. Play a key role in driving financial performance across our properties. In this dynamic role, you’ll ensure goods and services are procured at the best price without compromising quality, while maintaining accurate reporting of all inventory and consumption. You’ll work closely with General Managers, Department Managers, and Owners to provide commercial insights, break-even analysis, and strategic financial advice. Your focus will be on optimising food and beverage cost percentages, enforcing internal controls, and supporting financial planning activities including budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.



Key Responsibilities

  • Provide ongoing financial and commercial support to General Managers, Department Managers, and Owners, including attendance at key meetings.
  • Deliver sound business advice and break-even analysis for proposed activities, in collaboration with senior finance managers.
  • Maintain and enforce internal control systems and ensure compliance with financial policies, procedures, and reporting standards.
  • Lead financial planning and analysis activities including budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and action planning.
  • Oversee daily, weekly, and monthly operational reporting such as revenue tracking, payroll, and food & beverage cost analysis.
  • Manage payroll processes and ensure compliance with award provisions, visa restrictions, and tax legislation.
  • Implement and administer purchasing, credit, and accounts payable procedures to ensure transparency and efficiency.
  • Coach and develop finance and business support staff while promoting a disciplined cost-control environment across the hotel.

Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in hotel or hospitality finance is highly desirable, with a strong understanding of operational and commercial financial management.
  • Skilled in providing strategic financial advice, including break-even analysis and business case support to senior stakeholders.
  • Strong knowledge of internal controls, financial policies, and compliance requirements within a hotel environment.
  • Proficient in budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and developing action plans to improve financial performance.
  • Advanced reporting capabilities, including daily revenue tracking, payroll reporting, and food & beverage cost analysis.
  • Experience managing payroll processes and ensuring compliance with relevant awards, visa regulations, and tax legislation.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement and manage purchasing, credit, and accounts payable procedures with transparency and efficiency.
  • Effective leadership and coaching skills, with the ability to develop finance and business support teams across multiple properties.
  • Strong stakeholder management and relationship building skills.
