We are recruiting for an Occupational Exposure and Chemical Safety Manager reporting into the Director EHS, Occupational Safety

What will you do The Occupational Exposure and Chemical Safety Manager is a key member of the global EHS Workplace Excellence Team. This role is responsible for overseeing chemical safety and risk assessment activities for the global Environment, Health, Safety (EHS) organization. The Manager will c ollaborate with various stakeholders such as research and Development (R& D), New Product Development, Legal, External Affairs, Government Affairs and across all levels of EHS Site Operations in executing the key responsibilities of this role. The Manager will have the following key responsibilities:
- In collaboration with key stakeholders, establish necessary processes to approve and track the use of new materials and chemicals within Kenvue operations to ensure compliance with Kenvue restricted material policies, SDS/Right-to-Know requirements, and emission or release inventory and reporting requirements.
- Monitor proposed and emerging legal requirements for chemical substances that may impact Kenvue operations (e.g. HAZCOM, EO, methylene chloride, PFAS). Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure proactive planning for both environmental and workplace safety compliance.
- Develop and implement safety protocols, conduct risk assessments, coordinate monitoring employee exposure to hazardous chemicals, implement medical surveillance programs to monitor health effects of chemical exposure, and ensure regulatory compliance. Additionally, the professional will provide training and education on chemical safety, investigate incidents, and drive continuous improvement in safety practices.
Major Responsibilities: Emerging Chemical Regulation
• Monitor and assess the impact of global chemical legislation, including REACH (EU, China), TSCA (USA), CMSR (India) and other emerging chemical regulations.
• Work with internal and external stakeholders to evaluate regulatory trends and anticipated changes to chemical regulations (e.g., HAZCOM, PFAS, EO, Methylene Chloride, etc.).
• Prepare reports and updates for internal stakeholders, summarizing regulatory developments, compliance initiatives, and legislative impacts.
• Collaborate with Regulatory Affairs, Government Affairs, and Legal to provide input on draft chemical regulations.
Compliance with Chemical Regulations
• Develop and implement global EHS Performance Standards and compliance calendar actions on chemical safety, employee exposure and environmental compliance.
• Liaison with Make, R& D and Procurement to update and maintain the database of raw materials and active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and to facilitate the workflow for Occupational Exposure Limit (OEL) determinations.
• Develop and report on compliance KPI's.
• Conduct chemical risk assessments at a global level on new chemicals and communicate requirements on storage, handling, use, disposal to affected sites
• Collaborate with Procurement on chemical supplier compliance.
Employee Chemical Safety
• Oversee the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) program to ensure accurate, compliant, and up-to-date SDSs for all products, adhering to global and local regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with suppliers, software vendors, and internal clients to ensure SDS availability and distribution meets applicable global standards.
• Lead risk assessments for new or updated chemical regulations, identifying potential risks and mitigation strategies.
• Collaborate with IH, OH, and environmental subject matter experts to identify and implement solutions to address gaps in compliance, and to develop long term strategies for regulatory alignment.
• Develop programs that protect all workers including those considering reproductive health from chemical hazards through tailored risk assessments, workplace adjustments, protective measures, health monitoring, and compliance with maternity protection regulations.
• Liaison with the Kenvue IH, OH, and environmental teams and provide training for new chemical requirements.
Innovation
• Continually assess innovative approaches and tools to identify and assess new Chemical regulations.
Leverage AI and software tools to stay ahead of emerging trends and to streamline compliance and integrate solutions.
• Accountable to develop strategies and deploy tools for the evaluation and continuous improvement of new chemical use.
• Connects externally to industry associations and thought leaders.
• Develop and provide training and education on chemical safety.
• Respond to questions from and provide guidance to internal stakeholders regarding new chemical requirements.
What we are looking for University/bachelor's degree in chemical engineering, chemistry, engineering, science, or safety sciences
Required Years of Related Experience:
Minimum 8-10 years with proven successful performance
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
(Include any required computer skills, certifications, licenses, languages, etc.)
Demonstrated ability to lead, build, influence, and implement standard business processes and procedures.
Demonstrated critical thinking and analytical skills to evaluate data and challenge results.
Demonstrated experience with change management.
Technical knowledge in chemical safety, Industrial Hygiene and REACH regulation
Outstanding leadership and collaboration with ability to gain trust and influence at all levels.
Experience with or exposure to global program development / deployment / initiation
Ability to work in virtual cross-regional and cross-functional teams, translate complex situations into simple working solutions, manage complexity, collaborate with all levels of management and influence decision-making across a matrix organization.
Demonstrated project management skills, including ability to produce and maintain project schedules, create dashboards and track metrics.
Language Requirements: English required
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :
- Certifications in EHS (e.g., CSP, PE, CIH)
- Six Sigma certification
- Strong compliance orientation with a focus on end-to-end global/regional EHS process management
