Job Description:
Johnson & Johnson is seeking an expert to join our team as the Global Environmental Product Compliance & Sustainability Manager J& J Innovative Medicine. In this role, you will have the outstanding chance to create a significant impact on our company's environmental sustainability efforts. As a global leader in the healthcare industry, J& J is committed to taking ownership for our products and packaging at their end of life. We are looking for a driven individual who can drive our Global Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) programs for J& J Innovative Medicine linked to mainly Packaging and Urban wastewater, but also for future applications in electrical and electronic equipment (EEE) and batteries.
The Manager will report to the Sr Manager Material Compliance & EPR.
Key Responsibilities
Packaging EPR emerging issues and develop & implement EPR strategies (30%)
- Monitor new and existing global, regional, and national Packaging EPR regulations and guidelines.
- Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation related to our Packaging EPR programs, adhering to applicable retention periods.
- Assess our existing and future products and processes to identify areas of improvement and implement innovative solutions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams across different time zones to seamlessly integrate EPR requirements into product design, packaging, and manufacturing processes, ensuring compliance.
- Regularly conduct audits and internal assessments to assess compliance and find ways to improve efficiency.
- Support our country local operating companies in their reporting requirements.
- Actively participate in our enterprise EPR community of practice.
Shape and implement set up of a producer responsibility organization for UWWTD (20%)
- Shape the industry setup of a central Producer Responsibility Organization (PRO) that aligns with the Urban Wastewater Treatment Directive (UWWTD) in the EU.
- Drive the execution of a comprehensive roadmap.
- Benchmark against existing industry driven PROs such as the PPSW (Pharmaceutical Product Stewardship Work Group) in the United States.
- Single Point of Contact for the UWWTD taskforce at EFPIA (European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations) & main contributor to EFPIA’s workstream for the PRO setup.
Collaboration with Key Partners (25%)
- Build and maintain positive relationships with regulatory bodies, industry organizations, and other groups involved in EPR.
- Engage in industry networks and working groups to exchange knowledge, cultivate collaboration, shape advocacy and shape a sustainable future.
- Drive positive relationships with internal partners like Packaging Teams, Governmental Affairs and Policy, Local Operating Companies and the Environmental Stewardship community.
Digital roadmap to support EPR Reporting (25%)
- Contribute significantly to the implementation of our digital roadmap, which strives to support EPR reporting. We apply sophisticated technology to improve our processes and streamline operations.
- Analyze and interpret EPR data to identify trends, evaluate performance, and recommend data-driven improvements for our programs.
Qualifications
- MSc degree in environmental science, sustainability, or a related field, or equivalent experience, showcasing your extensive knowledge and expertise in this area.
- Excellent project management attitude and skills, demonstrating proven experience in managing global projects cross-industry.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex data, enabling you to make informed decisions.
- Exceptional ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with a variety of individuals, fostering positive relationships and promoting positive change.
- In-depth knowledge of EPR regulations, waste legislation, and sustainability practices, ensuring your ability to navigate complex regulatory environments.
- Proven work experience in EPR, product stewardship, waste management, or a similar role, showcasing your track record of successfully implementing and managing EPR programs.
- Proficiency in using EPR management software and sustainability reporting tools, enabling you to efficiently collect and analyze data to support our programs.
- Ability to travel up to 25% (primarily within the EU/EMEA region) as business requires.
