The Senior Salesforce Developer serves as a senior individual contributor and technical lead responsible for delivering complex Salesforce solutions in enterprise, regulated environments. This role focuses on hands-on development, technical execution, and code quality across the Salesforce platform. The Senior Salesforce Developer operates with minimal oversight, sets development standards through practice, mentors other developers, and resolves the most complex performance and integration challenges. The role collaborates closely with product, QA, and release management teams within an Agile delivery model and is accountable for producing reliable, maintainable, and compliant Salesforce solutions.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Leads hands-on development for complex Salesforce initiatives across the Salesforce platform.
· Designs and implements scalable solutions using Apex, Lightning Web Components, Visualforce, and declarative tools.
· Establishes and enforces coding standards, development best practices, CI/CD workflows, and source control branching strategies through day-to-day execution.
· Designs and implements robust integrations using REST/SOAP APIs, middleware, platform events, and configurable connections.
· Advises development teams on data model structure, security configuration, and access controls to support maintainability and scalability.
· Anticipates and mitigates Salesforce platform constraints, including governor limits, data volume challenges, and performance bottlenecks.
· Resolves the most complex development, performance, and integration issues across environments, including production support.
· Participates actively in backlog refinement, estimation, sprint planning, and technical decomposition of user stories.
· Leads code reviews, ensures adherence to quality standards, and improves overall code health.
· Partners with QA to support test planning, defect resolution, and regression testing.
· Ensures all developed solutions comply with Section 508 accessibility requirements and applicable federal security standards.
· Maintains accurate technical documentation for custom code, integrations, deployment procedures, and operational support.
· Mentors junior and mid-level Salesforce developers, providing guidance on platform usage, coding techniques, and problem-solving approaches.
· Contributes to continuous improvement of development processes, tooling, and delivery efficiency.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
· 6+ years of hands-on Salesforce development experience in enterprise environments.
· Advanced proficiency with Apex (classes, triggers, asynchronous processing), Lightning Web Components, Visualforce, and Salesforce APIs.
· Demonstrated experience delivering complex solutions on the Salesforce platform.
· Strong understanding of Salesforce security model, sharing rules, permission sets, and role- or persona-based access.
· Experience defining and supporting CI/CD pipelines, deployment processes, and version control practices.
· Proven experience designing and supporting integrations with external systems.
· Strong troubleshooting skills for resolving complex performance and data-related issues.
· Experience working in Agile delivery teams with cross-functional partners.
· Ability to independently own complex technical workstreams and deliver with minimal guidance.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS DESIRED:
· Experience working with Federal agencies, particularly the Department of Veterans Affairs, is a plus.
· Experience working in Salesforce Government Cloud environments.
· Salesforce Platform Developer I and/or II certification.
· Experience with analytics, integration, or AI-adjacent platforms such as MuleSoft, Tableau, or Einstein.
· Experience integrating Salesforce with Microsoft ecosystem tools (e.g., Teams, SharePoint, Power BI).
· Demonstrated experience mentoring developers and influencing team-level technical quality through execution.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills for collaboration with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
EDUCATION:
· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
CLEARANCE:
· Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
