ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / RESPONSIBILITIES:
Employee Relations and Employee Engagement:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for union-related matters, fostering positive relations and managing negotiations or disputes as necessary.
- Handle employee issues, investigations, and grievances in accordance with union regulations, aiming to resolve conflicts and maintain a harmonious work environment.
- Maintain effective communication channels for all employees.
- Identify and recommend retention strategies; assist with implementing retention strategies and employee relation initiatives as designated.
- Advise leadership in the areas of documentation, disciplinary action, and policy administration. Seek council from divisional HR leadership when needed.
- Work with leadership and HR team to create, address, and implement improvements.
- Works with the site HR team in development and management of employee recognition programs.
Talent Acquisition and Staffing:
- Identify and recommend talent acquisition strategies to meet business goals and support recruiting efforts; to include screening, references, onboarding of hires, best practices and aid on critical needs and group level initiatives.
- In collaboration with divisional HR leadership, create a candidate experience that supports the employment brand to include marketing of job opportunities, community relationships, online presence, and referral programs.
- Partner and source with local career centers, career service organizations, all levels of educational centers, Veteran Administration, staffing agencies, and online career boards.
- Manage recruiting resources to continuously improve recruiting function and cost effectiveness, measured through quality of hire.
- Identify career fair and networking opportunities for Samuel.
- Manage and analyze job postings for cost effectiveness and applicant hits utilizing metric driven processes. Results and recommendations will be communicated to divisional HR leadership to ensure job postings are filled the most efficiently.
- Facilitates and oversees pre-employment screening for applicants, prepares offer letters, pre-employment screenings and onboarding documents, and notifies recruiting sources and candidates as position is filled.
- Ensure site compliance and documentation of job descriptions, posting jobs, recruitment material and other related position/recruitment related information.
Training and Development:
- Work closely with group HR team to sustain and enhance the SPVG onboarding program to ensure the best success for new hires.
- Coordinate new hire training and onboarding and assist with position training throughout all departments to be compliant with HR ISO procedures.
- Collaborate with site leaders to identify training needs and implement training plans to meet the site operational objectives and staffing needs.
Compliance:
- Responsible for maintaining reporting and compliance related to recruiting and staffing activities and leading Company responses to government compliance requirements including OFCCP and EEO audits.
- Respond to employee and management questions related to HR programs, policies and compliance issues.
- Revise policies and procedures as assigned and disseminate changes to employees in specific locations.
- Remain updated on State/Federal laws applicable to area of responsibility.
Other:
- Partners with site EH& S leader to manage worker’s compensation claims and drug & alcohol policies.
- Partners with the group Benefits Partner to oversee benefit administration for the site.
- Identify areas for HR process enhancement to drive ongoing improvements in HR practices and policies.
- Able to backfill site HR Team members, and divisional HR Team Members as needed.
- Act as a liaison for committees, corporate and SPVG HR team.

EQUIPMENT AND EXPERIENCE:
- Completion of post-secondary education, with a major in Human Resources or related field.
- Five years of experience in multi-disciplined HR environment and previous leadership experience.
- experience is beneficial, but not necessary.
- Labor Relations experience preferred to include negotiations and grievance management.
