NORTHERN VIRGINIA ELECTRIC COOPERATIVE is hiring a Supervisor, System Construction in Gainesville, VA. This is a full-time position.

OVERVIEW: Supervises, schedules, assigns, and monitors the daily activities of the system construction department to ensure a high level of customer service. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other related duties may be assigned. An individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and effectively. Functional/Operational Inspects construction crew activities for compliance with construction standards, policies, procedures, design specifications, work processes, and safety.Assists in supervising service restoration and emergencies as required to restore power. Reviews audits, and approves contractor invoices. Coordinates invoice revisions with contractors. Consolidates all as-built information for completed work requests and completes as a built-in WMIS database.Supervises the installation of equipment, systems, and components by NOVEC employees and contractors.Provides interpretation of specifications and contracts and monitors the construction process, verifying that work completed is in accordance with contract documents.Works continually towards self-development to stay current on transmission and distribution construction and maintenance, customer service, and supervisory procedures and practices. Strategic/Supervisory Establishes and maintains systems and controls which verify the integrity of all systems, processes, and data, and enhance the Companys value.Optimizes the production capacity of the system construction staff to improve work efficiency and staff skill base within the department.Provides leadership within the department to ensure required human resource administration-staffing, training, coaching, development, work assignments, performance management, goals and objectives, and compliance with company policies and procedures. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: An associates degree in electrical, mechanical, or civil engineering or a related field is required or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 5+ years of related experience.Transmission and distribution construction and maintenance experience is strongly preferred. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: Functional/Operational Demonstrated ability to function independently in a multi-task environment, as well as part of a team.Demonstrated knowledge of all company policies and procedures as well as all applicable federal, state, and local laws.Demonstrated knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and mathematical skills.Demonstrated proficiency with general computer operation and Microsoft Office applications.Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and efficiently with all levels within the organization.Demonstrated ability to anticipate and meet rapidly changing customer and business needs by quickly refocusing and realigning strategic and operational direction.Demonstrated knowledge of electric utility design, construction standards, and work processes. Strategic/Supervisory A demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through others. Ability to develop and motivate a team. Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.Demonstrated ability to think ahead and plan over a short and long-term focus.Demonstrated knowledge of human resources administration to manage employees work, conduct performance reviews, develop goals and objectives, and assure compliance with policies and procedures.
