DESCRIPTIONResponsibilities for Planner/Grants Specialist
Collaborative grants management for projects in areas including infrastructure and food systems - Work as part of a team to administer and manage grant subaward programs.
- Ensure compliance with all federal and state regulations and guidelines in collaboration with team members, leveraging Michael Baker's expertise in creating needs assessments and identifying priority projects.
Team-based grants administration and management - Participate in the full lifecycle management of federal and state grants, including USDA, EPA, DOD, FEMA, and Virginia state grants.
- Assist in developing and submitting grant proposals, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and funding requirements, utilizing Michael Baker's comprehensive grant financing strategies.
- Support the monitoring of grant-funded projects to ensure adherence to grant agreements, budgets, and timelines.
- Contribute to the preparation and submission of required reports to funding agencies, with support from Michael Baker's experienced grant writers and technical experts.
Financial management support - Assist in developing and managing budgets for grant-funded projects.
- Track and report on grant expenditures, ensuring financial compliance and accountability.
- Coordinate with finance staff to ensure accurate financial reporting and auditing, benefiting from Michael Baker's grant management services to handle administrative tasks throughout the grant process.
Program development and implementation - Collaborate with program staff to design and implement grant-funded projects.
- Provide technical assistance and support to project teams.
- Evaluate program effectiveness and recommend improvements, informed by Michael Baker's consistent monitoring of funding opportunities.
Stakeholder engagement - Serve as a point of contact for grant-related inquiries and communications.
- Build and maintain relationships [SB1] with funding agencies, partners, and stakeholders by performing research and analysis, helping plan/prepare for/contributing to high level interagency conversations and meetings, corresponding with counterparts,
- Represent the organization at meetings, conferences, and other events related to grant programs, supported by Michael Baker's advocacy efforts post-grant submission.
Compliance and reporting - Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations related to grants.
- Maintain accurate and organized records of all grant activities.
- Prepare and submit timely reports to funding agencies and organizational leadership, leveraging Michael Baker's expertise in compliance and reporting tasks.
Research and analysis - Conduct research to identify new funding opportunities.
- Analyze data and trends to inform grant strategy and program development.
- Stay current with changes in grant regulations and best practices, utilizing Michael Baker's resources for identifying and preparing successful grant applications.
Training and capacity building - Provide training and support to staff on grant management and compliance.
- Develop resources and tools to enhance the organization's grant management capacity.
PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS - Education: Master's degree in urban & regional planning, or another relevant field.
- Experience: Proven experience with federal and state grants administration and management.
- Knowledge: Familiarity with food systems, agriculture, rural America, infrastructure, and/or international development is a plus.
COMPENSATIONThe approximate compensation range for this position $ $64, 480.00 - $101, 545.60 per year. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
