Description:
The Missons, Concepts and Capabilities (MCC) division of Applied Research Associates, Inc. (ARA) is looking for a Structural Engineer. This position provides operational, research and development, and training support along with subject matter expert advice and decision support to the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) as part of its 24/7/365 Technical Reachback Support program. Technical Reachback’s primary function is responding to Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and (high yield) Explosive (CBRNE) requests for information (RFIs) from the Combatant Commands (CCMDs), Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD), Joint Staff (JS), Intelligence Community (IC), command elements, Department of Homeland Security (DHS), other U.S. Government agencies, and first responders.
The ideal candidate will apply subject matter expertise and problem-solving skills to develop, integrate, test, verify, validate, and apply CBRNE software/scenarios based on experiments and predicted phenomena using theoretical and computational methods. The right candidate will work closely with other engineering groups to define the modeling objectives, obtaining the necessary model inputs and outputs, and verifying/validating results. The position also requires presenting modeling results and decision support aid to internal and external customers in written reports and oral presentations. Reviewing the technical work of other engineers performing modeling projects is required.
