SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Directs and coordinates activities of material planning / purchasing & customer service personnel engaged in MRP based planning and purchasing of materials required to manufacture Maysteel deliverable products. The Materials Manager and the planning / purchasing organization ensure that every step of the planning / purchasing process is functioning effectively to avoid costly delays and lost sales. Additional responsibilities include oversight of stockrooms and material handling activities as well as controlling inventory and cycle counting.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
SCOPE:
Directly supervises planners, buyers, and customer service personnel. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Maysteel's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving employee relations issues. Reporting to this position are the following functions: production planning, materials planning, production control, tactical purchasing, stockroom and shipping & receiving departments
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Education – Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree plus 5 years of progressively more responsible positions in the Purchasing/Sourcing/Production Control Department including supervisory responsibilities or equivalent education plus experience including management experience.
Experience: Two to five plus years in a manufacturing/logistics/sourcing environment in a Management role that included exposure to Lean Principles – KanBan Implementation, establishing MSA, Root Cause Analysis training and experience, Lead Sourcing Projects, Exposure to ISO certification requirements. MacPac skills are highly desirable.
Certifications – APICs, ISM or other professional services related to supply chain management a plus
