SUMMARY OF CLASSIFICATION:

This position is responsible for the daily setup and operation of laser cutting machines. Work with team leads and Laser II & III operators to acquire skills required for promotion to Laser II level.

Responsibilities:

• Perform daily machine startup and shutdown procedures.
• Inspect and verify the quality of finished products, ensuring they meet engineering specifications and company standards.
• Must be able to regulate and set up equipment.
• Load programs and tools as authorized to ensure operation.
• Load and unload machines.
• Stage raw materials at each machine for the day’s production.
• Report equipment deficiencies.
• Assist other operators as needed in loading and unloading machines when production requires additional manpower to maintain throughput.
• Perform minor maintenance and cleaning of cutting equipment and work area in accordance with company standards and manufactures machine recommendations.
• Take direction from management/lead person.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

• Ability to read and understand blueprints and other shop drawing aids.

Physical Demands:

• Ability to lift 35 lbs. and over.
• Squat/kneel, bend/stoop, twist/turn, grasp and reach overhead and outward frequently.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

A high school diploma, GED, or equivalency.

Experience with power and hand tools required.

Basic math and communication skills required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to lift, carry, push, pull, grip, and grasp up to 35 lbs. Employees also frequently bend, twist, and reach and may stand and/or walk up to 8-10 hours per day.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high. Job consists of working in a manufacturing facility. Job could consist of making changes by hand or by running machinery equipment. Will receive objects or parts on conveyer belt, be responsible for your portion of the job, and then pass materials down conveyer belt or to next worker.
