LAWRENCE COMPANIES, INC. is hiring a HR Generalist in Roanoke, VA. This is a full-time position.

The Human Resources Generalist supports employees and leaders across Lawrence Companies throughout the employee lifecycle. This position has primary responsibility for recruitment and onboarding while also providing support in employee relations, HRIS administration, compliance, training, and general HR operations. The ideal candidate is organized, responsive, comfortable managing multiple priorities, and able to provide professional and consistent experience for candidates, employees, and hiring managers. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Recruitment and Hiring Manage full-cycle recruitment for assigned positions across multiple business divisions and locations. Partner with hiring managers to identify position requirements, recruiting strategies, interview processes, and hiring timelines. Prepare and maintain accurate, inclusive, and legally compliant job postings. Post open positions and identify effective recruiting sources for professional, skilled-trade, driver, and operational roles. Review applications and resumes to identify qualified candidates based on job-related criteria. Conduct telephone, virtual, and in-person screening interviews. Present qualified candidates to hiring managers and provide timely updates throughout the hiring process. Coordinate onsite interviews, including candidate communication, scheduling, interview materials, and follow-up. Maintain accurate candidate records and information within the applicant tracking system. Support job offers, pre-employment requirements, and other hiring activities in accordance with company policy and applicable law. Track recruiting activity and evaluate the effectiveness of recruiting sources and processes. Maintain professional and timely communication with candidates throughout the selection process. Onboarding and Employee Support Coordinate and participate in new-hire onboarding and orientation. Facilitate portions of the companys driver orientation program and help improve the overall onboarding experience. Ensure required employment forms, policies, acknowledgments, and onboarding tasks are completed accurately and on time. Respond to employee and manager questions regarding HR policies, procedures, systems, and available resources. Provide consistent, service-oriented HR support to employees and leaders across company divisions and locations. Assist with employee departures, including exit interviews, required documentation, and offboarding activities. HR Operations and Compliance Maintain accurate and confidential employee information in the HRIS and other HR systems. Support the administration of HR processes, including employee records, status changes, performance management, training, and policy acknowledgments. Assist with employee-relations matters by gathering information, maintaining documentation, and escalating concerns as appropriate. Help ensure HR practices comply with company policies and applicable federal, state, and local employment laws. Prepare reports, review HR data, and identify opportunities to improve accuracy, service, and operational effectiveness. Recommend and implement improvements to recruiting, onboarding, and other HR processes, including appropriate use of automation. Protect confidential and sensitive employee, applicant, and company information. Participate in HR projects and perform other related duties consistent with the position. Required Qualifications At least two years of experience in human resources, recruiting, or a closely related role. Experience reviewing applications, screening candidates, conducting interviews, and coordinating the hiring process. Working knowledge of fundamental HR practices and applicable employment laws. Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to manage multiple openings, deadlines, and priorities with accuracy and follow-through. Sound judgment and the ability to handle confidential and sensitive information appropriately. Strong organizational, documentation, and problem-solving skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel. Experience using an applicant tracking system, HRIS, or comparable business system. Ability to work effectively with employees and leaders at all levels of the organization. Preferred Qualifications Bachelors degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field.(Relevant education and experience may be considered in place of a degree)Experience supporting a multi-location organization. Experience recruiting for transportation, skilled-trade, manufacturing, or operational positions. Experience with UKG Ready or another integrated HRIS and applicant tracking system.
