Job Description
INSOURCE SOFTWARE SOLUTIONS INC. is hiring a Engagement Manager in Richmond, VA. This is a full-time position.
Engagement Manager Operational Intelligence Practice Location Remote North America About InSource Solutions Group InSource Solutions Group is a leading provider of digital manufacturing, industrial software, and operational excellence solutions across North America. Through its Operational Intelligence (OI) Practice, InSource helps manufacturers determine where operational value is trapped, what must be true to unlock it, and how to convert technology investment into measurable business outcomes across people, process, data, and technology. We work with some of the world's most recognized manufacturing organizations across multiple industries, helping them achieve measurable business outcomes through innovative technology and deep industry expertise. Role Overview We are seeking an experienced and highly self-directed Engagement Manager to define expected client outcomes and lead engagement delivery for the InSource Solutions Group Operational Intelligence Practice, a new consulting practice built to help manufacturers convert digital and AI investment into measurable operational and financial results. This is a high-impact, high-visibility role for someone who combines manufacturing credibility, consulting discipline, and the ability to turn ambiguous operational problems into structured, fundable paths to value. The Engagement Manager leads the definition of the client's needs and expected outcomes and leads the delivery of OI Practice engagements, from initial discovery workshops and readiness assessments through execution support and ongoing advisory relationships with clients who retain the Practice past initial delivery. The successful candidate will be equally comfortable walking a plant floor with operators and engineers, leading a working session with senior executives, and running a governance cadence with a retained client months after the first engagement closed. This is a founding-team role, and its balance between hands-on delivery and client relationship ownership will shift as the Practice matures. The role suits a builder rather than someone waiting for a mature playbook. Success requires strong facilitation, structured problem solving, project leadership, executive communication, and strong OT/IT fluency to be credible in both operational and leadership settings. Key Responsibilities Client Engagement Leadership Lead the definition of the client's problems, desired outcomes, and success measures for the OI Practice and for broader InSource Solutions Group pursuits when required.Lead OI Practice engagements, including scope, workplan, stakeholder alignment, risk, quality, and outcome delivery.Serve as the day-to-day client lead across operators, technical teams, functional leaders, and executive sponsors.Bring structure to unstructured situations and move work forward with limited oversight.Deliver engagements efficiently and within agreed scope and budget. OI Practice Engagement Delivery Plan and facilitate discovery workshops that translate operational pain into a prioritized set of opportunities and a roadmap.Lead multi-week readiness assessments spanning data, technology, organization, process, and business case.Synthesize findings into a defensible readiness conclusion with clear risks, dependencies, and recommended next steps.Pull in Continuous Improvement, Organizational Change Management, solution architecture, and other partner resources when specialized expertise is required. Ongoing Client Advisory Own the shape of ongoing advisory relationships, adapting scope and structure as client needs shift and building client capability where it strengthens the relationship.Serve as the client's ongoing advisor once an OI Practice engagement concludes, maintaining continuity as work progresses into follow-on Group offerings and longer-term support.Run periodic governance reviews with client stakeholders to track value realized against plan and sustain executive sponsorship over time.Proactively identify a retained client's next opportunity as needs evolve, rather than waiting for the client to originate it, and advise on the right path forward, whether delivered by ISG or the client's own team. Business Case and Executive Communication Translate operational opportunities into CxO-ready business cases quantifying value at stake, investment required, assumptions, and success measures.Build prioritized roadmaps naming the platform, foundational, and organizational needs tied to each opportunity.Produce executive-ready deliverables that are concise, defensible, and grounded in the reality of the operation.Facilitate decision-oriented sessions with CxOs and other executive leaders and stakeholders. Delivery Methodology and Practice Build Partner with the Practice Leader to codify a repeatable methodology so engagements are not rebuilt as custom work.Create and improve workshop guides, assessment tools, readiness scorecards, business case models, and quality standards.Convert lessons from each engagement into reusable intellectual property and reference cases.Help shape how the Practice scales, including delivery leverage and the hand-off model to broader Group Delivery and Managed Services. Group Collaboration and Pull-Through Work closely with Group Sales, Delivery, Client Success, Managed Services, and other partner teams.Document qualified Group software, foundational services, and execution opportunities surfaced during engagements while keeping recommendations product agnostic.Advise and govern delivery of follow-on programs led by Group delivery teams, maintaining continuity of the client relationship through execution.Contribute to proposals, scoping, and effort estimates as the Practice matures. Success Metrics Deliver workshops and assessments on schedule, within scoped hours, and at the Practice quality standard.Produce readiness conclusions, business cases, and roadmaps that lead to a client-approved next step.Generate executive sponsorship and referenceable outcomes from delivered engagements.Surface qualified opportunities for Group software, foundational services, execution, and ongoing Practice advisory support.Grow and retain a portfolio of ongoing advisory relationships, with renewal and expansion driven by demonstrated value realization.Establish methodology and templates that reduce delivery effort per engagement and strengthen retained-client governance over time. Qualifications Required Experience Six or more years across manufacturing operations, digital transformation, management consulting, industrial technology, program management, or product management.Demonstrated experience leading complex client-facing or executive-facing projects from ambiguous problem definition through recommendation and delivery.Direct experience in industrial or manufacturing environments, with the credibility to engage plant-floor operators and technical teams.Strong workshop facilitation, stakeholder management, and structured project management skills.Experience developing business cases, value models, roadmaps, or investment recommendations.Ability to manage multiple workstreams while holding scope, quality, timing, and accountability.Strong written and verbal executive communication skills.Experience owning a client or account relationship over time, including retention, renewal, or expansion, not solely discrete project delivery. Preferred Experience Digital manufacturing, Industry 4.0, operational excellence, or manufacturing transformation programs.OT/IT environments including SCADA, historians, MES/MOM, CMMS, industrial data infrastructure, analytics, or cloud platforms.AI/ML, advanced analytics, predictive maintenance, digital twins, connected worker, or industrial decision-support use cases.Continuous Improvement, Lean, Six Sigma, value-stream mapping, KPI design, or asset-performance programs.Platforms within the InSource partner ecosystem, including AVEVA, Braincube, and TwinThread.Organizational change management, user adoption, governance, or operating-model design.Multi-site or enterprise manufacturing environments. Education Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Operations, Technology, or a related field preferred. An advanced degree, such as an MBA, is a plus. Personal Attributes The ideal candidate will demonstrate: Strong self-motivation, ownership, and personal accountability.Comfort with ambiguity and the ability to operate autonomously without detailed direction.A builder mindset and enthusiasm for creating a new consulting practice. The range to communicate credibly with operators, engineers, plant leaders, and C-suite executives.Structured thinking, intellectual curiosity, and sound judgment.Low-ego collaboration and willingness to pull in specialist expertise when it improves the client outcome.High degree of professionalism, integrity, and client-service orientation.Willingness to continuously learn and adapt as the Practice and technology landscape evolve. Technical Skills Strong presentation, facilitation, business case, and executive communication skills.Advanced proficiency with Excel and PowerPoint for analysis and client-ready deliverables.Demonstrated ability to leverage AI-powered tools and technologies to accelerate research, analysis, synthesis, and deliverable development.Working literacy in manufacturing data and technology concepts. Hands-on implementation expertise is not required. Travel Requirements Ability to travel throughout North America as required for client workshops, assessments, and executive sessions. Expect approximately 30%50% travel. Why Join InSource Solutions Group?
