Description:

As the Motor Vehicle Dispatcher, you will dispatch drivers to multiple buildings and locations and be able to schedule inside of a Microsoft Office-based database.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Assigns motor vehicles and drivers for conveyance of freight or passengers.
  • Compiles list of available vehicles.
  • Assigns vehicles according to factors such as length and purpose of trip, freight or passenger requirements, and preference of user.
  • Issues keys, record sheets, and credential to drivers.
  • Records time of departure, destination, cargo, and expected time of return.
  • Investigates overdue vehicles. May confer with customers to expedite or locate missing, misrouted, delayed, or damaged merchandise.
  • Maintains record of mileage, fuel used, repairs made, and other expenses and establishes service or delivery routes.
  • Supervises loading and unloading and issues equipment to drivers, such as hand trucks, dollies, and blankets.
  • Directs activities of drivers, using two-way radio and assigns helpers to drivers. Works at vehicle distribution center and assigns vehicles to customer agencies


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Possess all requisite state/federal driving licenses.
  • Provide motor vehicle records for the last three years.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Familiar with the Washington Metropolitan Area
  • Two years of recent dispatch experience for a large organization


KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
  • Proficient in MS Word MS Excel applications.
  • Strong conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to communicate on all levels in a professional manner.
