Job Description/Summary:
The Senior Cloud Platform Engineer reports to a Senior Manager of Cloud Engineering Services and performs a critical role delivering the core capabilities and features of a strategic cloud platform within the FRFS’s Cloud Platform Team. You will help deliver platform enablers including the development and operationalization of reusable cloud platform components to support Financial Services users and partners. The Platform Cloud Engineer role will also encompass developing and deploying self-service tools that enable Application Delivery Teams within the Federal Reserve Financial Services to build applications on the cloud platform. If located in Richmond, this will be a hybrid on-site role.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
- Platform Lifecycle
- Design, engineer, implement, and configure cloud platform services to support overall enterprise cloud-based solutions and reenforcing best practices.
- Develop cloud-based solutions for common platform needs (e.g. logging, monitoring, alerting, backup, encryption, tooling, etc.) across all layers of the platform and supporting services.
- Work with business and technology partners to define scope of the data management platform integrations.
- Partner with Information Security representatives to implement security configurations and controls.
- Support and refine the utilization strategy for the platform and enhance its overall architecture, security, performance, and financial aspects.
- Contribute to platform, product, and architectural roadmaps.
- Design Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment pipelines to enable code releases and continuous monitoring to resolve issues
- Platform Administration
- Perform development of common platform components and advanced configuration activities in the cloud platform.
- Create integrations between the cloud platform and other FRS enterprise services and 3rd party tools.
- Manage the core security model configurations
- Develop comprehensive DevOps solutions to provide full visibility to the different platform components
- Automate design patterns as Infrastructure-as -Code (IaC) and implement and test the automation
- Build, test and deploy Docker images
- Operational Excellence
- Provide support for deployed products and services by being a trusted advisor to product delivery teams helping identify cloud problems and guiding issue resolution.
- Develop and maintain automation for deployments to reduce manual processes and improve efficiencies across cloud environments.
- Lead solution design discussions, develops work effort estimates for implementation and presents solutions.
- Participate in code reviews by receiving and providing feedback on code produced
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work-related experience
- 5+ years of Cloud Engineering experience (AWS Preferred)
- 5+ years' experience building and delivering highly available platform solutions leveraging Terraform
- 5+ years’ experience using and configuring Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery tools (e.g GitLab, Jenkins, Concourse)
- Experience integrating platform with 3rd party solutions (e.g. from cloud to on-prem and vice-versa, etc.)
- Experience with scripting & programming languages (e.g. Python, Ruby, Bash, PowerShell, Ansible, JavaScript, JSON, YAML, etc.) is a plus.
- Experience building infrastructure solutions applying containers/ container orchestration, including tools such as Kubernetes, Docker, ECS, Lambda, and serverless deployments.
- Working knowledge of configuration management tools and techniques e.g including Ansible, Chef, Puppet, SaltStack.
- Currently holds a certification that demonstrates technical knowledge with Amazon Web Services (AWS) (e.g. AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified SysOps Administrator or comparable)

- The national hiring range for the Senior Cloud Platform Engineer is $124, 200-$170, 720 annually. For candidates in certain markets (Boston, MA; Chicago, IL; Los Angeles, CA; New York City Metro Area, Philadelphia, PA; San Francisco, CA; Seattle, WA), the listed hiring and salary ranges may be adjusted based on your geographic location.
