Description:

If you are a recent or soon to be Engineering grad looking for a great place to grow your career, Emerson has an opportunity in Charlottesville, VA. As an Entry-Level or experienced Electronics Hardware Engineer, you will gain valuable experience working with senior engineers, helping to develop new products and working towards sustaining existing electronic hardware designs. You will work with a diverse team located in the US, Germany, and India, giving you opportunities to grow and learn while working with industry leading technology.

IN THIS ROLE, YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL BE:

  • Assist in the development of new product designs and sustain existing product production.
  • Identify components for digital and analog designs and develop validation tests to qualify designs.
  • Read, modify, and generate schematics for electronic designs, working with layout engineers to implement any necessary changes.
  • Use advanced diagnostic and test equipment to characterize and validate components.
  • Compose documentation, reports, and communications to support your activities.
  • Coordinate with global engineering teams, external test labs, and sourced product vendors and provide development and validation support.
  • Work with electrical engineering technicians to design and construct custom validation fixtures, including mechanical build, electrical wiring, and generating qualification applications.
  • Coordinate with compliance engineers to support EMC, product safety, and environmental compliance.

FOR THIS ROLE, YOU WILL NEED:

  • Bachelor’s degree in technical field of study such as Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Experience reading or generating schematics and electrical system wiring, selecting electronic components for electronic circuit design, and usage of electronic diagnostic equipment such as digital multi-meters, electronic loads, power supplies, logic analyzers, and oscilloscopes.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS THAT SET YOU APART:

  • 2+ years of experience in hardware design or related field.
  • Experience performing hardware characterization testing.
  • Experience generating programs for microcontrollers (C language) and/or FPGAs/CPLDs (VHDL/Verilog).
  • Previous experience with EMC, product safety, and/or environmental standards.
