The Staff/Principle Lead Electrical Engineer will be assigned to SlingWorks, our advanced R& D organization, and will be part of a world-class team developing latest perception and virtual reality technologies. We are focused on equipping the Warfighter for an evolving and complex battlefield. Summary of Responsibilities

The Lead Electrical Engineer - is responsible for developing and integrating visually augmented systems for dismounted Warfighter applications to include see-through displays with extended reality applications. This role, reporting to the Chief Engineer of Integrated Vision Systems, involves working closely with development and product teams to ensure that all systems are integrated to meet performance requirements. The Lead Electrical Engineer is responsible for understanding and translating complex customer requirements into technical solutions, creating and managing development, integration and testing solutions, and ensuring that all systems are properly integrated. Core responsibilities involve configuring and maintaining middleware and other integration tools as well as mentoring junior engineers. This position will research, plan, design, develop, analyze, and test a variety of electronic equipment and systems, including displays, sensors, processors, interface units, and other electronic devices, circuitry components, analog and digital electronics, and control and test equipment.

This role is focused on **board-level digital and mixed-signal hardware design**, including **processor and FPGA-based system integration**, and supports products from prototype through EMI qualification and production. The successful candidate will function effectively and communicate in a dynamic, integrated product team environment, supporting a variety of programs. This individual will also serve as the EE Lead for multiple modules.

Key Responsibilities
  • Responsible for carrying out specific project responsibilities as part of larger program objectives involved in the design and development of products, equipment, or processes
  • Work closely with numerous technical teams to ensure that all necessary eco systems are integrated to meet business requirements.
  • May design and lay-out items
  • Consults with higher-level engineering personnel to resolve more complex design alternatives
  • Utilize electronic design tools such as schematic capture
  • Review and implement design for manufacturing (DFM) and design for test (DFT) objectives
  • Create and maintain technical documentation.
  • Prepares sub-system performance specifications
  • Evaluate and select optimum design alternatives
  • Identify, escalate and manage project risks and issues to resolution.
  • Determine design feasibility and ensure that product designs are competitive
  • Provide directions to others who determine appropriate materials and processes for specific component applications
  • Lead or conduct experiments to evaluate operating characteristics of products or processes, execute test and troubleshooting activities
  • Evaluate engineering prototypes and translate experimental results into design criteria
  • Conduct computer simulations to analyze, test, or design products
  • Develop task inputs to engineering project plans and maintain liaison with other departments of the organization
  • Respond to customer engineering queries and advise others on engineering information relevant to the organization's product capabilities
  • Provide technical presentation support and consultation for marketing
  • Represent the engineering unit in customer or field service contacts, troubleshoot customer application problems
  • Utilize project planning and monitoring methods to ensure timely completion
  • Assume responsibility for successful completion (Schedule, Performance, Cost) of systems and sub-systems
  • Perform preliminary engineering necessary to confirm plans and programs
  • Assist in assuring the technical soundness of engineering programs
  • Support the manufacturing process in resolving design problems
  • Collaborate with purchasing in obtaining quotations or bids and recommend the selection of vendors
  • Prepare engineering specifications for major purchases
  • Prepare reports of field tests, startups, or installations as required and write technical instructions
  • On a project or on-going basis, supervise the work of other engineering personnel
  • Contribute to process improvements
  • Develop the total cost of ownership models for a complete system, based upon predicted reliability, operational usage, and environmental factors
  • Recommend to Management to select appropriate and cost-efficient vendors
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of packaging techniques to meet quality, function, and cost standards
  • Ability to travel to company sites as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Authority to make independent decisions on matters of significance, free from immediate direction and within the scope of their responsibilities.


Education, Experience/Knowledge & License/Certification:
  • Requires a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, or a related field
  • 4-6 years of related experience
