Deputy Sheriff - Recruit

Deputy Sheriff Recruits are paid to attend a six month law enforcement academy at the Central Virginia Criminal Justice Academy located at 1200 Church Street, Lynchburg, VA. To view the schedule for the basic law enforcement academy click here: https: //www.cvcja.org/courses-and-training/ After successfully completing the academy, Deputy Sheriff Recruits will complete an approximately three month field training program prior to being released on their own. Incentives to join Bedford County Sheriff's Office include: All Deputy Sheriff's receive a take home vehicle if their residence is located within 5 air miles of Bedford County.County gym access and gym membership stipend offered.County tuition assistance program.Overtime pay is provided in lieu of compensatory time. After completing the FTO program opportunities for overtime or extra duties pay at $45 per hour include lake patrol, community events, football games, extra patrol shifts, DMV grants, church security, inmate work detail and more.
