Description:

In this role you will inspect machined and fabricated parts for conformance to print/specifications and Amsted Rail workmanship expectations. Set up, operate and monitor the Cone Assembly Equipment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

To accomplish this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the following essential functions satisfactorily:

  • Adhere to plant-wide safety, ergonomics and environmental requirements, defined by Amsted Rail policy and procedures
  • Possess an understanding of the manufacturing process, supporting production personnel in meeting functional and dimensional expectations as specified
  • Assist in first piece inspection with confidence and accuracy
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of critical part dimension and apply to the inspection process
  • Perform visual and dimensional inspection of parts
  • Operate measuring equipment (e.g., auto gauge, bench gauge, roundness tester, and hardness tester) with efficiency and accuracy
  • Mark items with details such as acceptance or rejection status
  • Discuss inspection results with those responsible for product
  • Maintain work area cleanliness and organization throughout the shift

  • Change over, inspection, and cleaning of hand gauges and auto gauges.
  • Set up the cone assembly equipment; to include calibration of measuring instruments.
  • Operate and monitor the cone assembly equipment
  • Pack out cone assemblies.
  • Mark items with details such as acceptance or rejection status.
  • Record inspection or test data following quality plans.
  • Segregate and identify product per applicable procedure(s).
  • Notify supervisors and other personnel of production problems, and assist in identifying and correcting these problems.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including basic equipment operation, product packing, and material handling

To be considered a candidate must be able to meet the following qualifications:

  • Successfully pass a pre-employment drug & background screening
  • Lift, push & pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Wear department required, employer provided, personal protection equipment (PPE)
  • Be able to regularly stand and move throughout the department and shift
