Alfred Street Baptist Church is hiring a Funeral Services Coordinator in Alexandria, VA. This is a full-time position.

The Funeral Services Coordinator will provide operational support for funeral ("homegoing") and bereavement services at Alfred Street Baptist Church. Serving as the primary point of contact and ministry of comfort to grieving families, the Funeral Services Coordinator leads the end-to-end coordination of funeral services held at ASBC, collaborating with volunteer teams and managing cross-departmental logistics. The ideal candidate balances compassionate bereavement care with disciplined operational execution, ensuring every service reflects the dignity, order, and Christ-centered care that define ASBC's ministry. Bereavement Support & Family Care Serve as a compassionate, faith-grounded presence for families during sensitive seasons, providing care and comfortConduct family intake meetings (in person, by phone, or virtually) to capture service preferences and maintain accurate, confidential recordsCoordinate condolence correspondence, flowers, and other family-facing communications in alignment with pastoral protocolsRefer families to licensed funeral homes for the care and handling of remains Service Planning & Operational Leadership Direct the planning, scheduling, and execution of all homegoing services hosted at ASBC, coordinating dates and spaces with operational departmentsManage service-day flow including order of service, viewings, musicians, soloists, and program participantsCommunicate clear protocols for guest clergy, guest musicians, and family-designated participantsOversee repast planning, coordination, and logistics in partnership with the Culinary Department Program Development & Administration Develop funeral programs in coordination with the family, ensuring correct order of service and ministerial assignmentsCoordinate printing with vendors and confirm delivery ahead of each serviceManage death-notification intake and timely, confidential distribution of service details to leadership, staff, and ministry teamsMaintain the bereavement notification tracker and keep records currentMaintain monthly reporting on services conducted, families served, and ministry activity
