Description:

The Collections Specialist for SMB Lending will work with Portfolio Management to facilitate and execute collection efforts within the Small-to-Medium-Sized Business (SMB) portfolio. This involves monitoring of the SMB Lending collections queue and requires communication directly with delinquent customers to obtain financial information, assess credit condition, and collect payments. This position will also work cross functionally with groups such as Portfolio Management, Special Assets, and Legal.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Outbound and inbound collections calls
  • Engage with borrowers to negotiate payment arrangements and plans
  • Contact customers to notify them of maturities, discuss refinance options, and encourage them to reapply, ensuring they remain in good standing
  • Tracking and monitoring trends in payments/delinquency
  • Assist with sending out default letters for accounts that have entered default
  • Manage escalations to appropriate teams, including Special Assets, Legal, or third-party collection agencies
  • Updating reports for tracking of departmental collection metrics
  • Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • 3+ years successful work experience in collections environment
  • Experience working with Small Businesses a plus
  • Experience in the banking or financial services industry a plus

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requirements:

· Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills

· Strong Microsoft application knowledge (Excel, Word, Access, and Outlook) and aptitude for grasping and using various bank software applications

· Ability to multitask and work with frequent interruptions

· Analytical experience and problem-solving skills

· Demonstrated ability in communicating effectively, both verbal and written
