Description:

General Purpose

The Workday Extend & Integrations Developer is a key member of our Workday team, responsible for designing, building, and maintaining custom applications within the Workday ecosystem using the Workday Extend platform. This role bridges the gap between Workday's native functionality and the unique operational needs of a large, complex healthcare organization.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on developer with deep familiarity with Workday's architecture, a strong grasp of business process design, and the ability to translate operational requirements into elegant, scalable application solutions. In addition to custom application development, this role will own or contribute to integration design and management between Workday and external systems.

Key Responsibilities

Custom Application Development
  • Design, develop, test, and deploy custom applications in Workday Extend to support and automate business processes across HR, Finance, Payroll, Operations, and other functional areas
  • Translate business requirements gathered from stakeholders into functional Workday Extend application specifications and working solutions
  • Build intuitive user interfaces within Workday Extend, leveraging custom business objects, calculated fields, orchestrations, and business processes
  • Maintain and enhance existing Workday Extend applications as business needs evolve or Workday releases new platform capabilities
  • Ensure custom applications adhere to Workday best practices, security standards, and PACS's internal IT governance policies

Integration Development & Management
  • Design and build integrations between Workday and external systems using Workday Studio, Workday EIBs, REST/SOAP APIs, and other relevant tools
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain existing integrations to ensure reliability and data integrity
  • Collaborate with external vendors and internal teams to define integration requirements and data mappings
  • Document integration architecture, data flows, and error-handling procedures

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Partner with functional Workday leads (HCM, Finance, Payroll) and business stakeholders to identify process improvement opportunities addressable through custom development
  • Participate in Workday release cycle reviews to assess new Extend features and their applicability to PACS's roadmap
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members and functional analysts on Workday development capabilities
  • Contribute to sprint planning, backlog grooming, and project delivery within an Agile/iterative development framework

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of hands-on Workday development experience, including demonstrated work in Workday Extend (App Builder, custom objects, orchestrations, or equivalent)
  • Strong understanding of Workday's underlying data model, security framework (domain and business process security policies), and tenant configuration
  • Experience building and managing Workday integrations using one or more of: Workday Studio, EIBs, Core Connectors, REST APIs, SOAP web services
  • Proficiency in Workday Report Writer and calculated fields; familiarity with Prism Analytics a plus
  • Solid understanding of HR, Payroll, or Finance business processes in an enterprise environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to design solutions that are both technically sound and operationally practical
  • Excellent communication skills — ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

  • Workday Extend certification or Workday Pro certification in one or more modules (HCM, Financials, Payroll, etc.)
  • Experience in a healthcare or highly regulated industry (HIPAA compliance awareness is a strong plus)
  • Experience with REST/JSON API design and consumption outside of Workday
  • Exposure to scripting or programming languages (e.g., Python) for data transformation or automation tasks

Physical Demand
  • This role primarily involves sedentary work, requiring the employee to remain seated for extended periods while working at a computer.
  • Frequent use of hands, wrists, and fingers for typing, data entry, and interaction with computer systems and software.
  • Ability to view computer monitors for prolonged periods and perform work that involves visual concentration.
  • Occasional standing, walking, or reaching may be required when collaborating with team members or attending meetings.
  • The employee must be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with internal teams, stakeholders, and external partners.
  • Light lifting of materials such as laptops, documents, or office supplies (typically up to 10 pounds) may be required.
  • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

What We Offer

  • Compensation Range: $100, 000 to $140, 000 depending on experience + annual performance bonus
  • Comprehensive benefits: medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with company match, and Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP)
  • The opportunity to own a mission-critical platform at a company that directly impacts the care of thousands of patients and residents across the country
