Description:

General Purpose

We are seeking a Director of ERP Systems to serve as the primary owner of our Workday ecosystem. This is a highly visible leadership role with accountability for the strategic direction, operational stability, and continuous improvement of Workday across all modules and functional domains. You will lead a team of analysts and administrators, partner closely with Finance, HR, and Operations leadership, and serve as the internal subject matter expert on all things Workday.

Essential Duties

Platform Strategy & Governance
  • Define and execute the long-term Workday roadmap aligned to business objectives.
  • Establish governance framework for configuration changes, release management, and new module adoption.
  • Evaluate and recommend adoption of new Workday features and products to meet evolving organizational needs.

Full Ecosystem Ownership
  • Oversee all Workday modules including HCM, Payroll, Benefits, Absence, Time Tracking, Recruiting, Learning, Financial Management, and Reporting/Analytics.
  • Own and manage all system integrations with downstream and upstream platforms.
  • Ensure platform uptime, data integrity, and performance across all integrations.

Team Leadership
  • Build, mentor, and manage a team of Workday analysts and system administrators.
  • Set clear goals, foster professional development, and create a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Manage vendor and implementation partner relationships as needed.

Stakeholder Partnership
  • Serve as a trusted partner to Finance, HR, Payroll, and Operations leadership.
  • Translate business requirements into scalable Workday solutions and manage the prioritization of the enhancement backlog.
  • Communicate platform updates, risks, and roadmap priorities to executive stakeholders.

Compliance & Controls
  • Ensure that Workday and all integrated environments meet cybersecurity compliance requirements.
  • Partner with Internal Audit and Cybersecurity teams to maintain appropriate system access controls and audit trails.
  • Support external audits and internal control assessments related to Workday-managed data and processes.

Release & Project Management
  • Lead Workday's semi-annual release cycles, assess feature impacts, and coordinate testing and deployment across stakeholder groups.
  • Drive new module implementations and enhancements from requirements through go-live.
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and cross-functional resources for ERP initiatives.

Qualifications

Required
  • 7+ years of Workday experience, with deep hands-on expertise in at least two or more core modules (HCM, Payroll, Benefits, Financials, or similar).
  • 3+ years of people management experience, with a track record of developing high-performing ERP or systems teams.
  • Experience owning and managing Workday integrations (Studio, EIB, Core Connectors, or third-party iPaaS tools).
  • Strong understanding of business processes in HR, Finance, and/or Payroll functions.
  • Familiarity with SOX IT General Controls, HIPAA requirements, and managing system access within a compliance-conscious environment.
  • Exceptional communication skills — able to translate technical concepts for executive audiences and translate business needs for technical teams.

Preferred
  • Experience managing full lifecycle Workday implementations or major module expansions.
  • Healthcare or large multi-site employer experience strongly preferred.
  • Workday Pro certification or equivalent certification in one or more functional areas.
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business, or a related field.
