Description:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership to direct reports, including, but not limited to, hiring, training and development
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the diesel truck repair shop
  • Oversee the repair and maintenance of trucks, and trailers, and ensure that repairs and maintenance work are completed to the highest standards and in a timely manner
  • Manage productivity reports and implement processes to reduce equipment downtime
  • Manage budgets, financial reporting, and control of operational costs
  • Develops and maintains good working relationships with vendors for purchase of supplies and parts
  • Conduct regular inspections to ensure the quality of maintenance work
  • Understands and ensures compliance with manufacturers' warranty and policy procedures
  • Communicates effectively with the Sr. Leaders, Team Leads, Mechanics, and Drivers to ensure problems, nature of repair, and status of repairs are understood and followed up on
  • Approve outside vendor maintenance and repair work
  • Stay current on industry technological advancements and regulatory changes
  • Compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures, including safety DOT regulations
  • Ensure the shop is well-maintained, clean, and organized at all times
  • Additional Responsibilities assigned

Qualifications: Education

  • High School Diploma/GED; Technical School education a plus

Qualifications: Experience

  • 5+ yrs. experience as a Shop Manager, or assistant manager in heavy equipment, engine, or preventive maintenance repair
  • Strong understanding of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems
  • Experience with DOT compliance required
  • CDL A preferred

  • Experience in exercising initiative and sound judgment in decision-making
  • Willingness to voluntarily take the first steps to identify and address existing and potential obstacles, issues, and opportunities
  • Ensuring the delivery of value-added, high-quality, and proactive support on a consistent basis
  • The ability to support employees in their efforts to achieve job goals by providing resources, removing obstacles, and acting as a buffer

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to perform the following physical behaviors repetitively throughout a shift: standing, walking, handling, reaching horizontally and grasping firmly
  • Must be able to perform the following physical behaviors frequently throughout a shift: reaching above the shoulder, reaching below the waist, pushing buttons, bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, kneeling, and pushing
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50lbs
