Big West Oil, LLC is hiring!

Description:

We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Financial Analyst to join our finance and accounting team. This role will play a key part in the company’s financial planning and analysis efforts, with a strong focus on supporting forecasting, annual budget processes, and performance reporting. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, a solid understanding of financial principles, and the ability to communicate insights that drive strategic decision-making.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain and enhance current financial models to support the decision-making process and scenario analysis.
  • Work closely with department heads to gather inputs, validate assumptions, and consolidate budget data.
  • Prepare and maintain budget models, templates, and schedules.
  • Support monthly close processes with the analysis of actuals vs. budget/forecast.
  • Analyze monthly results, providing insight into key drivers of variances and communicating findings to senior stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather data and understand business drivers.
  • Identify and quantify financial risks and opportunities, presenting recommendations for performance improvement and cost optimization.
  • Design and automate reporting templates and dashboards using advanced Excel functions and BI tools to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of financial reporting.
  • Ensure completeness, accuracy, and consistency of financial data across systems and reports; support audit and compliance processes as needed.
  • Contribute to ad-hoc financial analysis and projects as needed.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in financial analysis, budgeting, or related roles preferred.
  • Demonstrated Ability to interpret financial data, identify trends, and provide actionable insights.
  • Experience with financial planning systems and data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Vena) strongly preferred.
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial statements.
  • Proven track record of working independently and driving process improvements.
  • General Ledger account reconciliation and accounting systems experience.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Location
North Salt Lake, Utah

Schedule
Traditional 8-hour/5-day workweek or 9/80 schedule with every other Friday off. A hybrid schedule may be available after the successful completion of the training period.
